I'd be more worried about a new member asking for £200+ for unseen consoles.

I'm not sure on the legalities but all you are doing is flashing the firmware on a dvd drive, that can't be illegal can it?
Also would be wary for the reasons cosmo pointed out.

also why is he charging an extra 60 quid onto of retail price for a console thats been flashed? it takes seconds to flash a device plus you run the risk of being banned

its only £40 on top, its actually the full process and equipment costs that warrants the price. The xbox has to be taken apart to do this and by the way im not nigerian. . This modification can also not be detected on xbox live.

I'd like to be the first to back this lad up. I work with him and he does offer the service to flash the drives. As to the legalities of flashing. I don't think it's illegal to flash the console. However the copying of games may be. If he is offering to flash the drive i don't think that's illegal

How can you ensure that MS cant detect it?

well as far as i know because the flash is designed with 'stealth' it is therefore undetectable, the backups must also be stealth, this is simply making the backup appear to the xbox as the same as an original game, therefore undetectable.

That explains nothing tbh.
All ms would have to do was check the firmware on the drive, if it doesn't match block the console.

still voids the warranty, and is far from 100% succesful. think it only works on certain models with certainDVD drives

i apologise for the lack of information, but unfortunately i did not write the firmware used. The writers of the firmware have implemented the stealth so not to be detected. There have also not been any bans form xbox live relating to this which indicates it works. i will have a look to try and find some more technical info. i know im obviously going to say this, but i use my xbox 360 all the time on live whith the modified firmware and i am yet to be banned!

the only way it would be do-able would be for the patch to use the name of the current firmware release to ensure that it will work correctly....
If I didn't play my console on live everyday then I would consider it. But as I do I will pass until there is a tried and tested way of doing it.

hi topshot, just to let you know i can indeed do all drive types and have had a 100% success rate without a single problem. granted it does void your warranty, but some people may not have any warranty left anyway.

TRIPE.
There is nothing stealth about it at all, any change in firmware is traceable by MS and therfore can be banned.
