What would you need to do to the 1.6 sport to make it as quick as a 106 GTi?
My gearbox and clutch has gone on the 106, and it's around £600 to repair.. and when I don't have £100 it's hard to find that sort of money.
Cheers

would need to be at least 150bhp so inlet, cams, manifold, the full works really short of throttle bodies.
then youve got the suspension to sort

it we're talking a STOCK Gti then ts very much possible!
then again with my Feather Weight GSi pushing a poor 112 BHP could keep up with my other half's old GTi untill she got to around about 80 in 5th.
the only thing that the GTi has is a fooking great big kick at 4K which is when it leaves most others behind, basically accoding to Parkers the Corsa sport 1.6 16v runs 104BHP the GTi runs 120bhp, so theres the answer to match a Stock GTi you'll need to add 16BHP of Engine mods! lol

standard gsi keeping up with gti
its not all about the power, gti will weigh less aswell mate, you will need a gsi pushing about 30+ bhp more than standard to compete
