Roughly how much in petrol would 2500 miles cost? Mostly motorway miles. about 1700- 1900 anyway.
In a 1.2 16v Corsa, 1.6 16V & a 2.0 16v corsa.

xe with f20 will be more eco than one wiht f16 cr

the bigger the engine the lower the revs at higher speeds? wouldn't that mean the 2ltr would be more fuel efficient? i could be wrong?....

well my old xe nova was better on fuel then my 1.2 corsa, if that help's also

It's not quite that simple, it's right in theory, but it's to do with gearbox more than cubic capacity.
A 20XE will have longer gearing than a 1.6, so at 70, it will be sat 500rpm lower, BUT it's a bigger engine, and does use more fuel.

Not really, no, the 1.6 will still use less fuel, as it's a newer, more economical engine out of the box.

to be honest sounds like you would be best taking a diesel or turbo diesel corsa if you going to be doing that many miles? would be very fuel efficient on all those motorway miles compared to petrol? of course obviously would require you buying another car! which you prob would not want to bother with!

Yeah, the idea is to sort my car out then go to europe in it. So don't fancy that idea.
Im preferring the 1.6 at the moment but thats just because of cost & insurance.

 1.6 would work out a lot cheaper though, insurance etc.

My Paxo VTR is better on fuel than my 1.2 corsa, £50 quid less to insure to, Tax is the bitch though

Why not go in a car between you, it'll be easier and you can spend half the money on a Cavalier or something which would be comfortable.

So you buy a cheap shitty £500 diesel cavalier, spend £500 on diesel, split insurance between you, and tax, and it cost you half as much to go, then you sell the £500 car for £500 when you get back, and your Corsas haven't got covered in stonechips and/or stolen in a foreign country.
Job done.
