what a shit review, they actually complain that it makes peak power early and you dont need to rev the tits off it. thats what you want in a road car!

"the Corsa VXR is missing a little rawness and connectivity. For example, peak power arrives at 5800rpm, meaning there’s never the need or desire to chase the redline"

yes, probably feels a little turbo diesel like in its power delivery i imagine they mean.

Like a lot of td's they can be quick but people like the feel of a revving engine

near the bottom, just after daves quote, they just said it gets to 60 quicker than the clio, at the bottom they hinted that they preffered the drive of the clio, it has more urgency etc

"The second mid-corner discovery is grip, and masses of it"

"Over the same roads, a Mini Cooper S would have heads bashing the headlining."

"The Corsa VXR is infinitely more practical day-to-day than the furious Clio 197 or compromised Mini. With decent kit, including air-con, and a price that’s £400 cheaper than its two chief rivals, the Corsa VXR deserves every success."

This bit makes me laugh because even they admit that they are being picky all the time with Vauxhalls

"But at the risk of being labelled impossible to please, we have a nagging feeling Vauxhall may have overdone the polishing. For all its outright pace and high grip levels, the Corsa VXR is missing a little rawness and connectivity. For example, peak power arrives at 5800rpm, meaning there’s never the need or desire to chase the redline, or the same sense of urgency you get with the Clio."

What? You want frantic gear changes to keep pace with modern cars? The VXR has smooth power delivery and they are moaning about it?

Its beyone belief it really is

TBH it seems a good review. Sounds like its the better car if you want it for road use and not track which 99% of people will.

for a road car I would gladky have a car that doesnt need to be screaming at 8000rpm to make peak power.

One thing id like to add.

The clio is a nice car and i like it, but for corsa has far more tuning potential.

Possibly, depends on insurance group though TBH, if they mangage to keep the Corsa VXR sub insurance group 13 I doubt it will effect the Astra GSi/VXR as it will be aimed at a different market of people.

And the Clio, is ermmm, French

Good review though and ties win with everything that they said at the preview evening.

I like how you wouldn't have to rev the nuts off the engine - surely that means the engine 'will last longer' (and I use the term loosely) because you don't have to rev the nuts off it everywhere.

Youuuuu what?

Over-polished?

Is that worse than it being un-finished?

The motor industry just cannot get their tiny little minds around the fact Vauxhall are now building cars which are as good in the styling, performance and price market.

They hate it for some reason
