Following on from the vxr detailing thread what are folk's personal preferences.
Say, for example, you have 5k to spend on either tuning for your engine or numerous detailing sessions to keep the car pristine, which would you go for?

Tuning I would think..And learn how to do all that detailing myself not that I would go as far as that VXr dude did...

There's a difference between keeping a car well looked after, and being anal about wheel arches, headlight glass and tiny scratches which you can't see without a special light

I'm very doubtfull as to how much difference a micron off a piece of whatever material the headlights are made of makes tbh.

Tought one because you are basically talking about 2 complety seperate things. But id rather have a immaculate car.
Dave no need for comments like that is there? Some people, including myself take a lot of pride in the work we do. Im sure you wouldnt like to be called a knobjockey for tuning cars would you as im sure you take a lot of pride in the results you get.

but when someone asks what you did on the weekend, do you really tell them: " I detailed the car"

If I had a 1/2/3/400k car I would want it to look that clean.
If I had a new astra i'd give it a wash every weekend and a polish every once in a while.

Wilson, I think Dave is making the point about the word 'detailing' you wouldn't say that to a mate down the pub, you'd say you 'washed it'.

'Detailing'
is a word that these 'detailers' came up with to make washing the car sound special. thats just my opinion, dont get upset about it.
