hi all

got in my car today like a normal day,drove to the industrial estate about 3.5 mile away.turned it off and went in a shop.come back out and after switching it on.....TICKING

gets faster when you accelerate but slower when you leave on tick over

any suggestions

piston slap, or tappets, check oil first

put new oil in but it seemed ok to start,i immediatly pulled over when i heard it,been told by 1 friend that it could be the followers???or sticky valves?

did you check the oil level COLD before putting more oil in?

Was oil level when mine did this ages ago when it was leaking from the crank oil seal.

low oil level may mean a few things, sounded like mine rite before the HG went

you think?had that many things told me in the last 2 days that i dont know what it is!

it still drives but gets faster tapping when accerating.rather not drive it tho to be safe

top end,just been to a local mechanic,he took the rocker off to discover an oil block,no oil getting to chamber 1+ 2 of the cams......put some forte engine flush in and top me to run it for 30 mins.taking it for a drive in a minute then doing an oil change tomorrow

GUTTED,went for the drive the mechanic told me to do.at 5:30 picked my friend up 2 mile from my house,just got back because my cambelt's snapped!!!!

dunno what im gonna need but rac man has advised me i wont need alot

id say oil level. if its low ir causes the cams to knock and tap. u dont accelerate heavy when you start ur car 1st thing do u?

8vs are bombproof dunno how you managed to snap the cambelt

i dunno either mate,its a 1.2 8v breeze model.1997 with power steering.couldnt think how the hell it happened.hopefully my dad can work his magic and get it fixed,if not its either new engine or no pvs.

easy to sort one of them engines best just tryin to get a head if u can. my cambelt went and i paid 25 quid for the whole top end of the engine from a scrappy so u should be able to sort it cheap enough
