I currently have £1000 in Premium Bonds, which have been there for about 4 years. So far they have returned nothing, so I've being wondering whats best to do with the money.
Few ideas!
- Leave it where it is, I could win some money!
- Withdraw and put in to my savings account and gain interest (Currently 5%)
- Open an ISA and gain tax free 5-6% interest
- Put in a Stocks & Shares ISA, could gain or lose money
- Buy in to shares, same as above
- Buy 2 season tickets and worry about re newing when the time comes

Ive never won anything with premium bonds either.
Isa is always good, but you'l only see £50 back a year on a grand!!
Stocks & shares are risky, could go wrong fast if you dont know what your doing!! You probably wont see a big return over a short time either.
Season ticket if you want but then its gone

Another option is to put another £1100 I have floating about in the bonds or put 2k in an ISA!
Or
Leave the bonds alone, I've pretty much forgotten about them up to now and dabble with the £1100 in some shares.

buy a projector. Or just leave them in boinds if you can cope without the grand, then if and when you do win, it will be a really nice suprise

Contemplating leaving the bonds and investing £1100 in Shell Oil. Thsi would get me 232 shares. What do people think?

depends are you in it for the long run or short run, find out what the dividend payments shell have been making recently and compare how much you would recieve from the dividends compared to how much you would be recieving in a high intrest account.
If your in it for the short run ie buy shares and then sell them when they go up i wouldnt bother as you wouldnt make to much money unless you follow the oil industry closly and know something is either going to drive the share price of shell up or down dramiticaly soonish.
although im not expert lol.
And yes i cant spell SMB.

Royal Dutch Shell Shares (pence) 17.13 17.08 16.77
so for every share you have you would recieve 17p odd. so 232 shares times 17p.
something like £39 i think shells dividends are paid 3 times a year so you would make about £118 a year providing the payments are 3 times a year might be 4 times a year or even 2 i cant remeber lol.
but dont forget dividend payements can change an awful lot just the same as the actual share price can.
Any way theres my thoughs :-/

Thinking now that I might invest in shares through my bank (Halifax) quite convieniant and probably a bit more security too.

I've kind of taken the plunge, in a cop out kind of way!!!
I've just opened a Maxi stocks and shares ISA online with Halifax who I bank with and have transferred £1000 across. Will take 5 days for the paperwork and certificate to come through then I'll see what I've let myself in for
