And his assistant saying yesterday that as far as he was concerned he was still the manager

Man City would be a silly move imo.

Wouldve been better to say nothing though I wouldve thought, assuming they knew I mean.

"The decision to leave the football club, which has been my spiritual home for over 18 years, as both player and manager, is one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my life"

Wonder why hes resigned then

I reckon big Sam has had a phone call from the FA, telling him all he's got to do is resign, they'll bin McLaren and he'll be installed as new England manager.

They have everything in place to be top 6, just never seem to employ the right manager! Martins and a fit Owen up front would be lethal.

I think Newcastle need a few more class players instead of a few average european players to be up there.

I'd disagree tbh, they have everything in place to have the right players but they certainly don't have them right now. The defence is one of the poorest for a team their size.

Definately, the infrastructure is there, as is the fan base. Just short of a few players.

"Reports on Saturday suggested he had opted to head for a new challenge, with it being claimed he had agreed a deal with prospective Manchester City buyer Ray Ranson to take charge at Eastlands."
