think your exagerating a bit there to be honest and the stainless would have cost me 40 pounds more so there was a point, someone respond with a more realistic answer please!

That IS a realistic answer
It WILL rust, it WILL rattle when it has rusted and it WILL fall to bits when it's rusted.
£40 is nothing considering it won't fall apart after 2 years.

it will rust and if it is visable it will become and tatty just like anyother exhaust and could start to break like a standard exhaust would and tbph i would of spent the extra 40

I had my mild steel system for about 6 months, didnt rust, rattle or fall to bits. I sold it afterwards was still good as new. I dont see the problem with mild steel systems. Stainless ones are louder aswell.

Stainless steel does rust if the surface is chipped.
But it will last longer than mild steel. BUT will it last £40 worth longer? IMO yes
But even a standard box should last you 4 years+ so you should get plenty of life out of a mild steel one.

I had a mild steel piper backbox on my nova for two years. Didn't fall apart or rattle. Had a gaurantee with it too, not sure how long though. I did have to paint the box once, but nothing wrong with the tip.

Stainless doesnt rust if it chips its not like chrome plating.
Mild steel will look tatty, my stainless steel system is 2 years old and gleams like new when i wash it

sorry can i just add it will only be on the car for about 2 to 3 years then i will probably change cars! i think it will take a few years before it falls apart tbh and i do think you are all exagerating, not all of us have 160 to spend on a backbox you know! i just want it for sound and looks tbh not quality and performance!

TBH the stainless one on my Corsa now is a lot better than the mild one on my Nova. As Topshot says, when i clean mine now it looks new. But the mild one needed a lick of paint.
If you dont plan on having the car for too long then i'd go for the mild one.

You asked 'will it be as good?' the answer is no, it won't.
I don't see why you're moaning about that? I'm not lying, my mild steel system on my old Corsa rusted, my Stainless one didn't, that makes the stainless one better.

most proper performance exhaust systems are mild steel, but that is because they get replaced quite often anyway lol

My backbox is huge, the bore of the system is far too big. Im buying an ashley performance mild steel black system. The back box is black and 2" in diameter. Looks the bollocks.
