Hi peeps, I've got a silly question that I hope someome don't mind answering.....
Is a corsa with a 2.0 16v lump in quick? I'm currently driving a UK impreza turbo and i've got to sell to get a smaller car for the missus, I used to have a corsa Sri 8v a few years ago and it was a great little car, I intended to put a 2.0 xe in it but never did,
So i fancy a corsa again...small enough for the missus but hopefully with the 2.0 under the bonnet still be exciting when I drive.
Or the other option is how much am I looking at to convert a corsa to 2.0 LET?
Sorry if this seems a silly topic! but i'm hoping someone can answer...

they go:
Forwards
Backwards
and will turn a corner if you turn the steering wheel.

Yours is a UK spec turbo?
The XE'd corsa will be about as fast as that is, I've raced quite a few & always beaten them (mine is on TB's though)
They are fun little cars, and people don't expect them to be fast (like Scooby owners for example ) So when you suprise people its even more fun
Bad points are that its an old engine so might leak oil a bit. Gives the car a bit of character though (my excuse anyway)
Suspension wise is where the money is well spent. Engines, brakes etc can all be picked up cheap from other Vauxhall models, but the suspension is worth spending money on to make it handle better

When I had my last corsa I was talking to a lad with a gsi about a 2.0 transplant and he said don't bother and to put a gsi lump in and tune it...

1.6 engines often go for more than the 2.0 engines. So if you spend money on the 1.6 to tune it you could be doing the same to the more powerful 2.0 engine
But if you bought a 1.6 Corsa Sport you wouldn't have to bother with the transplant

I couldnt agree with that more!
the difference that uprating the suspension has made to my corsa is incredible, the best mod that you can do is fit a whiteline rear ARB

You could get a decent one for around the £2000 mark, buying one done is the cheaper option

Matt h... I've been looking into both converting one myself or buying one already done and I agree it seems cheaper to buy one already done.
How much we looking at for a LET conversion?

It would be good to attempt one your self, along side someone who knows what their doing - it would be a good experience, I would love to do one
If you don't want all that hassle, just buy an already converted one.

mine goes well enough i actually brought some tb's for my 2.0 but sold them, i think its fine in standard form, end of the day its corsa 160-70bhp for 2.0 is enough to have fun on b-roads dont matter to me my corsa maybe dont handle as well as 106gti etc fact of the matter is i have never stumbled accross a 106gti on b-road lol i just go out for session by myself not interested in racing other cars and my 2.0 provides fun and torque steer which makes it unprodictable which is fun in my eyes, anymore power and your just trying to be better than everyone in my opinion.
i dont really have any reliability issues people on here seem to talk about with my xe and nor do i have any handling issues which apparently makes 2.0 UNBELIEVEBLY CRAP APPARENTLY.
not being biased to my 2.0 but i love it go for it you'll love the torque.

I would love to do one myself purely to piss my mate off who's been converting his gsi for the last 2 yrs!! he pisses me off, only small jobs left to do to complete but he can't be arsed to finish it... but he always refuses to sell. if it was a fair bit cheaper to do the conversion rather than buy one already done I would definitely do it... I'll soon have a budget of 2 grand so what do you lot suggest? unless I sell the scoob then should have a budget of 6500 to 7000...

I'm not sure how much you could pick a C20 Let or an XE for, but you could get a corsa shell for pretty cheap.
It just really depends what you want to do.

thats the most important thing about it! being happy with your car and it being fun whether its a 2.0 corsa, 1.6 16v corsa on tb's, 106 gti, or a scooby, as long as you enjoy it thats all that matters
