Picked myself up a new car today after the accident my old one (a 94 Corsa LS 1.4 8v) was in last week. This time round i have a 04 Corsa SRi 1.7 CDTI.
Certainly a big improvement all around. Has most of the mod cons going. Auto dimming rear view mirror, auto wipers, climate control, cruise control and all the basic stuff, but its nice even having power steering . Fairly impressed with the engine so far too.
No pics yet, been raining all day

Diesels are becoming cool I'd have one if I did loads of miles.

Diesles aren't cool, they're for people who don't enjoy driving and are tight imo.
thats my opinion, find them very boring to drive.

Diesels are only boring to drive if you dont know how to drive them.
Diesels are ace.

If you like changing gear every 2 seconds after the 2000rpm of power has gone then yes.
I'm not saying they are slow, just boring imo.

How are they are boring though? You get a big fat dollop of torque surging you forward Thats not boring, its fucking ace

Because once it kicks you in the back you have to change gear. IMO it's annoying.

with diesels there is 2 plus sides and 5 down sides, in that view they are not that good, but it depends on how important the 2 plus sides are to you!

I dont know what diesels you've been driving, but this one makes good power up till 4300-4400rpm, then it starts to drop off fast.
Unless you're after a sports car, i think they have more plus sides than a petrol engine .

Yes but the turbo's normally aren't spooling up till 2000rpm!

You opinion doesn't count in any other situation and certainly doesn't in this case either.
If i'm tight for buying a diesel you must be ultra tight since you have a car that cost a fraction of the price

How do you know you get more pleasure, I can guarantee you I get more pleasure driving my diesel than I would driving your shitty tin can.
And opinions are fine but how can you call somebody tight when the car cost them significantly more than yours does?
2 shit cars doesn't make you not tight.

Do you change gear exactly on peak torque in your car?

Precisely!
My mate has a DC2, he's a mechanic, drove a new golf gttdi thing and said it felt quicker! But it obviously isn't!

I do a lot of mileage, but did I get a diesel when I got a new car recently?
No... I buy a car with a 2.5 V6 engine!
