Well I spotted a bargain on the bay and managed to swipe it up for a good price.... drove all the way to Ipswich to collect this with a mate of mine:

So.... it was a bit ratty - hadn't been cleaned or rode in months but he hadn't listed everything in the eBay auction and I got more than I bargained for

Got it back to uni and straight away stripped it down... cleaning various bits as I went along:

(tyres soon to be replaced with some Maxxis don't worry)

Cleaned the discs up...

Frame down to the cranks and BB, stripped them off.... BB is a bit grubby will clean it out and maybe buy a new one:

Cleaned up the chain .etc

Ditched these crap pedals:

and the rank DMR grips and bought some new bits:

also got a lizard skin instead of the scabby yellow tape

Bit more cleaning, changing bits:

(ditched the brace)

< in the bin

Then i got to the frame.... it was originally a dark red colour but the chap tried to respray it black and well didnt do a good job so I've stripped it back down to bare metal:

It's currently sat in my room and going in tomorrow to be powder coated white then i've got some replacement norco decals on the way, will sticker it back up and replace all bits and should have a nice white, black and a few gold bits theme running through the bike

p.s. bullet caps on wheels are going and Hope gold hubs may be coming in depending on finances

You came to Ipswich and didn't let me know?!

You CUNT, you total and utter CUNT!

EDIT: Still angry so I hope you squash your nuts on the frame somewhere down the line

well if the rings are good theres no need, just if they are knackered a new chain wont mesh very well with them

Chain just looked a bit old in the pics and a new unstretched chain always shifts ten times better

so along with cables it should be spot on. However use what you have first and try it

Yeah it looks old cos its rusted up a bit after being cleaned, it just needs another wash and clean up prior to fitting, then it'll be sweet as a nut

I had some of those DMR cranks, and Atomic pedals. They were all made of solid steel. I hit one agains a rock at about 40mph in France and cracked the crank I also went over the bars, landed on my head and stopped with my feet dangling off the edge of a very steep slope with rocks and trees ready to bash me to bits.... Thank fuck for my Giro Mad Max which now has a massive hole in the back of it!

Sam! Never figured you were a bike freak. You should come ride Aspley Woods when you're ready.
