...in Abu Dhabi, though it didnt really feel like a holiday seeing as I used to live there, but means I get cheap(free) accom from my mates so everyone's a winner. 
Mate rocked up at the airport and whisked me to his new place... 
60" tv...

Looking onto Lulu Island (A man made island) on the other side of the water...
Into this place which can only be seen to be believed once you're inside (The only pic here I didn't take!)...
Once inside the Emirates Palace (above), to see the Exhibition for one of the new islands they're building, Saadiyat Island...absolutely mahoooosive and looooooads of models...

Onto Lulu Island and this is a massive man made lake they've made with running waterfalls etc around it. I think about 6 people must know about this, 2 of them 6 being us 2 as there was only 4 other people there! Didn't get a go of the quad bike unfortunately! Probably just abandoned as no-one said it was theirs!
The view of Abu Dhabi island from the back of the man made lake behind the sand taken from the real desert and put onto the man made desert island...
I accepted a job when over there as well, so I leave in a months and a half time. Yay!

That's the good thing about the place - everyone has heard of Dubai and goes there instead (Dubai is an hour and a half away) - It keeps the prices in Abu Dhabi (Capital of the country) very cheap. Taxis are never over 2quid anywhere you go.
Apartment prices however are now through the roof as everyone can see the potential that Abu Dhabi holds and is beginning to show. It is going to cost me about 10k rent for a year for an unfurnished 1-2 bedroom place.

wow that is expensive, i hope your income will be healthy enough, 10k Makes the 6240 i pay a year seem like a bargain for a 3 bed semi-d
Looks worth it for where you will be though looks brilliant mate... Still not a patch on blackpool though

i go to dubai quite a bit, ive not been abu dhabi recently, we bought a few places on the new palm theyre building but have sold them on for a nice profit, now we are having another house built there. Its one of the nicest places ive ever been ( pre construction thats going on now ) but the heat :O
