Well after 16 months of having my German plates on the golf i eventually got pulled and cautioned under section 3 of the fraud act of advertising my car as a registered German vehical under uk roads.
The police confiscated plates issued me with a £30 fine and 14 days to rectify fault ( all done within 2 hours stamped at mot station with metal old style legal metal plates on instead )
They told me they are going to crack down on minor offences such as mine with tougher penalties etc.

Why do people say shit like 'why arent the police solving bigger crimes'? I'll tell you why, If people didnt do this shit with their plates the police wouldnt need to bother with them in the first place.
They're really cracking down on this in my area too.

Agreed, like speeding. If people didnt speed then there wouldnt be a need for speed cameras so they would remove them.

Because the car is german. So if you own a Toyota you gota go out and get plates in Japanese writing. I don't get it either.

I think it's more to do with the font being different.
If you go to germany and buy a german car, then put uk style plates on it, the same thing happens.

I know that having foreign plates is essentially begging to be pulled over, however I think it is a clear reflection of how much free time the police have these days. I mean lets face facts, you are more likely to hear about "police cracking down on tinted windows" etc as opposed to hearing "police have managed to find a missing person/stolen vehicle".
