Well i drove a W reg 1.2 16v with pipercross induction on it, and it was the slowest car ever (i dont no if something was wrong with it or what but it was absolutly shocking, i thort they would be alot quicker than that - you put your foot down in first and it takes a lift time to get around the rev range)! my 1.4 sport took the piss out of it really! So it will be a big leap for him!

well the engine is 1.4 16v, hopefully if he brought it back with him there should be a full sprtex exhaust system and 4branch manifold going on would that give much power?

Ive edited the post because it was a little mis leading - but ive bin in a 1.0 12v and i swear that pulled better! The 1.2 has got pipercross on it, sitting basically on the engine sucking the hot air it - i lifted the bonnet and you could feel the heat from the filter!

I told him to put standard box back on because i was positive it would go quicker and better on mpg! Ive made me a cold air feed with some aluminium tube for the summer as cant be doing with heat soak. I was looking for a standard box to drill but having no look - so looking for a carbon fibe BMC stlye jobbie! ;lol: Anyways happy with my sport atm - the cold feed doing its job, doesnt seem to bog really anymore and running nice with decat! I suggest bying a decat over a manifold then see how much money you got!

Well power gains the 1.4 picks up well, tbh for a middle car the 1.4 is nice, i have the 1.4 sri 8v, not the same power as the 16's but compared to my friends 1.4 206/106 and saxo it's the fastest of the bunch threw all gears.
Did a 0-60 test, 3 runs each around the 7.5-8.2second mark. which isn't bad considering the kit i have + no mods on the engine.

Vauxhall Corsa B 1.6 16v 1997 106 n/a 9.5
thats from performance statsd. your saying your 1.4 8v corsa with prowler kit on is quicker than a standard 1.6 with 106bhp?

I have no idea mate, but im just saying each time was done on a stop watch, on level grounds it ran a 7.9, 8 dead and an 8.3 due to a heavy start.
It's like stats saying that the top speed is 110, when i no for a fact that isn't true.
Im sure the majority of people would run a 1.6 gsi stock well under the 9.5 mark

Very inaccurately measured though. You won't be doing 60 when your speedo says you are for a start.

My speedo is 2mph out, other than that i was happy with the times, ill don't think there will be another 2/3 seconds to match the stock time of that for the 1.4 sri.
Anyway this topic isn't about this, all i was giving was basic info on the performance from a 1.4 based corsa.

Must be a good kit as the sri 8v 1.4 is 11.5 sec 0-60
so takes 3-4 seconds away from the 0-60 time
A nissan sx200 with 248bhp is 0-60 in 7.3 mate
1.4 16v is around 90bhp should be alot more fun for your mate.
Can gte a sportex system and manifold for around ''£240" but some people on this site said there pretty shite..
I would go for something better like an ashley manifold and exhaust you have the choise of 4-1 or 4-2-1 then
good luck if he does get the sportex let us know how its goes

I ran an official 9.55 0-60mph on a virtually standard engine (filter and rear can).
SRi 8v's arn't that much slower. I always found there was only a marginal difference up to 60mph odd... And not much in it top end either.
Will you notice a difference, yeah. It'll go much better, it'll sound much better, but nothing amazing. U'll soon want a 1.6, then shortly after that a 2.0, then after that ........
