good and bad news! Good, its fast! Sounds amazing too, had a great drive back from cheltenham to hereford and back to aber.

Bad news -
1) the gear linkage was giving them a lot of problems and they cant get it into reverse, they were going to fix it but one of the guys is going on holiday tomorrow for a week and it would mean even longer witout the car so i took it anyway with the intention of taking it to a local garage here to get done (plus it would mean id have to drive another 240 miles round trip to pick it up otherwise).

2) The engine is running pretty hot, it was around 93/94 degrees the whole time, although it didnt go above 95 so it may be nothing to worry about.

3) The throttle linkage just broke/came off, when I went to take ed for a spin in it! Luckily it was only about 100m away from my house so im waiting for the AA to come get it now Im not too bothered though cos I was going to take it to a garage anyway about the gear linkage, teething problems are to be expected.

It made 190bhp on the rolling road, and the power was still increasing, but cos the guy didnt know if i had strengthened the internals he left the redline at 7,200 so i can increase it a bit more. Had an amsuing race with a BMW 325i, went sailing past him on an A road after a bit of a play, and the look on his face was priceless

gear linkage is simple to set up yourself mate. all u need it 2x drill bits and a 13mm socket, extension bar and ratchet.

what spec is the engine running? i would of thought 190bhp was quite low for tb's on an xe, im expectin more like 200-210bhp

most XE's on tb's make about 180 bhp. after that its all down to the spec of the cams and mapping.

C20XE 2.0 16v engine conversion, Jenvey DTH throttle bodies, Emerald M3K mappable ECU, polished and ported head, bronze valve guides, double valve springs, CatCam 280 degree high lift cams, Vernier pulleys, pocketed Mahle pistons, blue injectors, ARP bolts and head stud kit, fully rebuilt bottom end with all new gaskets and seals, all new sensors, silicone hoses, uprated oil pump with QED hardened steel internals, polished crank, lightened and balanced flywheel, 4-1 manifold and stainless 2.25" straight through exhaust

The guy at the RR wasnt told the internals spec, so he didnt set the rev limit too high in case it damaged anything. He said it would make more with a higher rev limit, as it was still climbing and the torque was still about level. There was a drop in torque around 4k which he said a better manifold would sort out, so with higher rev limit and the manifold it should see better figures, but im just gonna enjoy it for the summer and get more power next year when im back from spain.

yes, those SBD manifolds are great on the C20XE. (or a Vsport version for 1/2 the price )

280 cams should see 200bhp with no problems, did you go for the stainless 1 piece valves as well?

Take it you didn't have to run it in!

What linkeage are you using then? I had touble getting gears with mine. Just ended up resetting the linkage. Also I binned the MTech Spacer and bolts and used a custom (bent) standard linkage.

What TDC lifts did they go for in the end?

What compression is it running too?

if it's still the head I sourced for you it's got TP225 SBD cams.

you'll be wanting to see 210-215, could be the timing and CR that's letting it down, suggest you get the timing checked then pack it off for mapping with Dave Walker

You can spin that engine up to 7750 no hassle.

Isn't the torque really down? My standard XE has abit more torque than yours? Those kind of figures with massive bhp is how Honda do it. Do you have Vtec?

I'd put that down to the cam timing being out, wait till it's retimed and mapped again.

You should be seeing 160+lb ft from that spec, although peak power is about right. I wouldn't expect that much more tbh. But theres certainly improvements to be made in the map.

ITs a good start though
