What are these like? Quite like the look of them, especially the williams. The 1.4 engine range any good? Considering one, like them in black.

Any info is good

Like any old french car, but the clio's rust. Only one thats worth going for is the 16v or williams.

Ahh, i see. Have any reliablity issues? Gearboxes etc. Would be for a first car, so doubt very much that I could insure or even afford a 16v or williams.

if its looked after then no. if you sense any slight problem etc leave it. check all electrics and make sure its not smoking or knocking.

check it goes into gear smoothly.

Are all french gearboxes like cheese , thats what my brother warned me about getting a 106 XSI, first car, end up putting the gearbox and clutch in shit. He had one, about 3 gearboxes through it

Tho saying that, he drove it like a madman.

no they are not. on some models they are a bit fragile. in over 2 years my 306 box has never given me any problems nor did my 205

Ohhhh, reminded me there, always wanted a 205, are the lower spec models any good, or is the GTI the only way to go?

205's all have galzanised (sp) shells so in theory they should rust

a standard granny issue 1.4 rt clio is quicker than any 1.4 sri corsa or nova so they can be good fun, getting on abit now so dont pay to much for one.

16v models can be had for under 1k and williams's start at 2.5k+

Quite like that.

Seems that most of the RT's I can find are either 5 doors or auto's

My mate had a 1.4 as his 1st car. Was nice, he got a free williams interior from the local garage. Went quite well aswell. His rusted on the back panel, but it was only surface rust.
