As just about everyone on this site knows I love my 16 inch Calibra DTM BBS wheels, but last night I bought a set of the same wheels in 17 inch and with an offset of ET35 with 205/40/17 tyres. They look absolutely gorgeous on the car but I can't turn my steering wheel at all without the wheels catching on the arches! Any suggestions? I was planning on going for a more practical suspension setup anyway, as its too low and the ride is too harsh at the moment!

Can you not have work done on the arches?

I was going to say spacers, but you need to reduce it

Just leave it sitting there like that, looks fookin' mint.

yeah I would love to just leave it sitting that low with those wheels on it but it would become an ornament instead of a car! the tyres are already a 40 profile, I was thinking of getting them machined down and the suspension raised up slightly, and maybe getting them done in the same finish as my 16s (see my garage for pics). As for arch work I have already taken all the top bolts out and bonded them on with tiger seal, but is there anything else you can really do though? trim the outer arches back?

yeah I agree actually but the anthracite doesnt actually photograph that well but in the bright sunlight they look awesome because they look bright silver, I've never seen another wheel finish that looks as good!

you could try cutting the metal part of the wing back and then put the arch back over the top, not sure how much it will help though.

unbolt the arches and mastic them on for a start and you can slightly flare the arch metal out, like rolling the archs

these small things may help

cheers Fro you Bad Mo Fo, (has a nice ring to it, dont you think? ) The 16's will be up for sale if I can find a way to make it practical with the 17s on it, it has 205/40/17s on it now, will 195/40/17s fit? Also if I get the wheels machined down, I dont know if they will clear the struts, how does everyone else make 17s fit on their corsas? I think this definitely has to start with a better suspension setup because I've just got a cheap kit off ebay at the moment that lowers by 50mm, looks like it lowers more though. What does everyone suggest? I'm thinking about coilovers with some soft springs because I want comfort again!
