I bought 3 leds for my speedo and it's not that bright and seems a lot darker than the standard bulbs, is there such a thing as "extra bright" leds which will light up the whole of the speedo/rev counter area?

you have to expect LED's to be a littler duller than standard bulbs yes - that is the case even with the brightest LED's
It is largely due to the colour - yellowy light shines better through the dials than a blue light
A slightly brighter option is red - which is what I use in my vehicle

Got mine now and fitted them. Only 1 bulb came on .....very confusing so i turned the other 2 bulbs round. Still nothing? Pull dials out and the wiring at the back of my dials is fried!
Now i only have half a working dash

LEDs are polarity sensitive, so will only work one way round.
plus they shouldn't damage your wiring on the dash, if wrong resistors etc are used, then the bulbs will just die, or not work.
personally, i just solder my own up, at least i know they're of amazing wicked cool quality then lol!
for you with "dull" dashes, try sanding/filing the head of the bulb until its flat, this will give a better light spread as LEDs are only 10 degrees spread as standard. i did this with my blue ones, and made loads of difference.
got white ones in now (stupid orange needles dont show up with blue light)
