sent out a thread asking which air filter to get a little while ago, i got the red max power one (was £10 on motorworld.com) arrived today, whacked it straight on and then reset the ecu, sounds great really chuffed with it actually, i will get some pictures of it

A quick query thoe.. on the old air box there was a pipe going from the front of the engine to the air box.. i have taken the air box right out, so at the moment the pipe is just taken off.. from what i can see this is just another way of air getting to the engine.. Do i need this on it?

I will get picci's if you dont know what i mean

Sweet, cheers

Also, thinking about it, there was a little Red wire i was unsure about.. but it was just a realllly tiny tube, and couldnt see that it would do anything.. is it ok to take that bad boy off?

I Read on the Tuning section somewhere that you should reset the ECU after adding things like air filters.. new exhausts.. so thought i would.. should i not have done?

yeah that pipe thing is to get air into the airbox.

should've kept it on there really as you don't have a cold air feed

how/why did you reset the ecu?

I'm guessing he took the battery off for 30mins. He did it because people on here advised him to, as well as advising him to get a Max Power induction kit

yea, took the battery off for a while and then started the car and left it running for a few minutes.

Well, nobody advised me to get a Max power induction kit.. but i wanted to get an induction kit for the noise, and i figured what with having a 1.2 8v, theres bollox all point in spending alot on one, and as it was only £10.. im really not to bothered that it's crappy.. not like im expecting my Car to go any faster or anything..

NO need what so ever to ''re-set'' the ECU, i'm not even sure if you did re-set it right.

Even adding stuff like full exhaust, inlet's, cams u dont need re-set the ECU!

Are you expecting it to go slower and bog down at traffic lights? Hope so.

Christ in his original thread he said he just wants it to sound nicer and didnt wanna spend much, just coz he didnt get a expensive one dont mean u hav to give him shit, and as far as im aware its advisable to re-set the ecu after all engine mods

Trace it all the way back It plugs in behind the tophat. Take it off and put a screw in the hole. Sorted.

this is true about reseting ecu's, when i had my old corsa sri i drilled the airbox and put a piperx panel filter in. the car juddered a bit every now and then. it also idled high. i took the battery off for about a hour, problem solved.

Though this only has to be done sometimes i think coz ECUs are suposidly self learning.

Also the max power filter, filters shit, but does sound good as i fitted one on a 1.6 focus, sounded real nice, but its probably letting in dirt that better filters wouldnt
