Does anyone on here's car not have power assisted steering and if so what do you think of not having it? Only reason i bring this up is im still learning to drive and the learner cars the new shape corsa and the steering is so sensitive so when i have a 2 hour lesson then an hour later i go driving with my mum in my old corsa without it i find it so weird and in a way kinda difficult.
But that may be down to the fact ive only started driving 2 months ago.
What everyone elses thoughts on not having power assisted steering?

I had a Corsa with and a Corsa without, the one without was better to drive. I don't like PAS.

As has been said previously, you'll only notice not having pas when your in a car with it.
I've been driving my car for over 12months now with no pas, after learning in a car with and too be honest its not something i miss at all (and of course its one less bottle to cheque/pay for on service day).

People who say 'you'll never notice not having PAS' probabaly didn't have to reverse park up a 30% hill into a street space barely big enough for there car on a daily basis.
I had to with my old corsa and let me tell you, that makes you fully aware you're in a car without PAS!
Maybe overall road feel isnt as good but knowing i wont have to rip my arms off every day to park my car is well worth it. Also, the steering on my new diesel corsa with the PAS off is so heavy its hard to turn the wheel at all when the car isnt moving.

i havent got pas and i find it easier to drive, its only a problem when parking and even then its not that difficult to turn the wheel even with the car stopped

I have PAS but TBH I drove my mates corsa without it and I prefer the feel of not having it when taking corners. Feel more in control.

exactly, i dont understand when people say they feel much safer without it. when i go for a drive in my Corsa/ astra both of which had PAS i could tell exactly what the front wheels were doing. i do agree some cars have way to much assistance which does remove from what the front wheels are doing but this cant be said about older vauxhalls

, more control of the car
Its a corsa, not an M3 or Ferrari lol
Have PAS on my GSI and didnt on my Nova SRi that I used to use as a daily drive.
The Corsa was nicer to drive.

People who say they feel safer without it are the kind of people who drive around the streets 'racing' and think they are quality jockeys

I feel more in control of the car without PAS. The only time i wish i had it is on the rare occasion i need to do a bit of manouvering.
