Yeh....engine damage
Dont got putting bigger injectors on without serious airflow mods first.

You realise your not going to get any extra bhp....just less mpg

it wont make a difference the engine wont be getting enough air to make it worthwhile and will probably just cause serious overfuelling

1.4 16v or 8v?
If its a 16v get an aftermarket upper inlet manifold. Could see you 10-15bhp
Then exhaust manifold and system/de-cat

Inlet manifold is the way to go. Unless you can afford throttle bodies or carbs.
As superlite says, you'll see a healthy increase for £200-£500.

If you put the injectors in, you'll need to make sure it's fuelling right. In order ot do this you'd need it mapped, which would cost a few hundred to do. Because you'd need a mapable ECU, or replace the chip in your existing ECU.
You don't get ponies for pennys.

It's a pointless mod. The most restrictive part of the X14XE and X16XE is the inlet manifold. Bin that and you've got a good base for any further modding.
Changing the injectors and mapping is a total waste of time.
But, it's your car and your cash, do what you like

Cheapest way to gain decent power on x14 and x16 is to ditch the inlet for an aftermarket one as they are very restrictive.

Some on e-bay and you can pick up second hand ones out of the classifieds on here.
Range from £150 for an e-bay jobbie to £300 for a Mantzel second hand.

how much would the best one cost? would the 2ltr redtop one do?

Sorry mate, i'll explain a bit better :-
The box at the top near the bulkhead which says mantzel on it replaces the standard inlet. Shortens the distance the air has to travel from filter to cylinder and makes it simpler, more power.
The best one is (was) made by lexmaul, these give power all through the revs.
Then theres dbilas/mantzel. Around £500 including all parts needed to fit.
Then you've got the hommade jobbie like what you get from e-bay. These will do the job, but some fall to bits.
A redtop inlet won't fit.
