i don't know which engine it is, but i don't think its the same as a corsa gsi, according to parkers ( ) the 1.6 engines range from 70-100bhp depending on the model

If it's not a Sport, it'll have an X16XEL, you want the Astra 1.6 Sport engine, which is an X16XE.
The XEL has smaller ports on the head, so even changing the inlet will still mean it has less power than an X16XE.
I don't think the C16XE ever got near the Mk3 Astra.
You'll want 2 litre 16v Cavalier/Astra/Calibra brakes and some decent suspension, but that's not as important as the brakes, the standard stuff would be fine for a while, the brakes would not.

im sure you have to change the inlet on the astra engine, as it's bogger than the corsa one..
may be wrong though

mine wasn't, but it came from a sport.
the XEL manifold is different, but I don't think it's larger.

I wouldn't do it if someone's offering to do it for £300 TBH, that's too cheap to be a good job, if it includes the engine and ECU etc.
