Just got another car as I fancied a bit of a project. It’s an Mk1 Nova with 12K miles on it and rust free. Got it from England without a viewing so took a bit of risk especially since there prone to rust no matter what mileage they have. But was worth the gamble, ended up being better than I expected. Was an elderly lady who first owned it for 17 years and did 8k miles, then a young guy got it and put a cage although he only had it for 4k miles. He had a slight bump at the back which helped him sell it to me as he couldn’t afford to repair and keep it going. Anyway here's some pics, the first 2 is when I got, was a bit dirty so had to give it a quick clean.

Nice garage for it with a humidifier to keep the rust away

Plans are to fix the back, hopefully doesn't need sprayed as it's never been painted before so would like to keep it original. First thoughts was to get XE in with TB's but not sure am gonny do that now as its really that clean I don't think it would be right to start welding at it. Then maybe 1600 engine with carbs/tb's but even that I still think I may be ruining it. Anyway undecided atm. Exterior wise still pretty much uncertain as I did have it all planned out but being so mint has put me off modifying it. Anyway needs a good clean, what is for certain is alloys and lowering but even that am unsure where to go. Any ideas? Got new Speedlines in the garage from the corsa so they will prob go on. The car isn't going to be used that often as I want to keep the miles down, I'll keep the corsa as an everyday car. But I've been busy with uni and stuff so will try and get some better pic's to show how clean it is. Idea's and opinions please

Well got a bit of cleaning done tonight. Started on the sills as they were piggin. Before:

After:

No rust

Cleaned the arch up a bit, need to get the inside done yet.

Removed bumper to check for rust.

Cleaned in behind the lights, came up a treat.

Think am gonny get rid of the cage a search for standard rear seats as I've kinda gone off it and want to keep it orginal or close to it as I can. If i've no luck in locating seats then it will prob have to stay but I don't think it suits the car. Very well made cage tho.

Thats all I got done for tonight, been busy with uni work so think its going to be slow progess.

New speedlines in the garage, undecided though. Really dont think am gonny change the engine or interior, think i will be ruining it. For now anyway keeping it simple. Lower, alloys and exhaust.

Well tonight got round to sorting out the rear light, it had a slight knock at the back which fooked the bumper and rear light. Few whacks with a slide hammer and all was good.

From this:

To this:

Other than that not really much happening, just more cleaning, got a bit more of the front end cleaned up and in behind the passenger light. But still a very long way to go to getting it clean.

Got a new bumper for the rear, although am having a bit of trouble sourcing rear seats, if any one can help or knows of any it would be very much appreciated.
