Was quite impressed with it in all honesty, its a very good runner no taps or smoke etc runs very well, anyway we came round up onto the slip road at about 30, me infront, i booted and so did he, we got upto about 100 on our private road we've got , then i let off and he didnt really gain much at all.

Bloody nippy car though, if there wasnt so much trouble surrounding them cause of how old the engines were id certainly have one .

If anyone's going santa pod with an xe this sunday if u want a race up the strip that would be cool , i think ill get my ass handed to me, but would still be fun lol

Tbh, im not entirely sure, there is a leaderboard on the forum i go on www.306gti6.com, and on there are quite a few rallye's doing 15.2's to 14.6 i think, in the cold weather id be happy with a low 15 though i think it will be more like a 15.5

There has been nothing wrong with my 2.0 due to the age of the engine Give it death, but look after it and its doing me proud (probably jinxed it for the pod this sunday though!)

Should be close then; I pulled a 14.7 at york with various engine gripes; but no rollcage.
Hoping to better than at pod though, oh, did I mention I'm gonna try my 888s on

how much the VTS sell for??? only thing that turns me off the VTS/GTi is they get RAGGED by chavs lol...and dont think any owner has kept they mileage down wud probably gti for interior and bit more sutble for me but all the same as VTS like...where as XE is just my car with a different lump in it...probably looking at more problematic but the lump shud be 100% stronger than the pug 1.6!

Fraid not, i would never say a xe will be stronger than a VTS/GTI lump, you go on sax-p or something like that, you never here of " my engines tapping, knocking, smoking ", and if there are any probs, its usually the owner like cambelt snapping or something.

" if there are any probs, its usually the owner like cambelt snapping or something." yeh probably half agree but ive never heard of a gti/vts getting to 200k on the clocks haha!...do read this alot though mate... "new engine does 6k", "new engine with 40k on"...worries me...not saying one or the other is better...as dont own either just wish too

i didnt say anything about 306 engines ...

The problem with 306 2.0 16v engines in the rallye and gti is the cambelt's snap and cause all the problem.

And when there put back together alot of people dont time them quite correctly so the valves hit piston and cause a tap.

Yeah i know what u mean, its upto u , persoanlly i never felt like ragging my corsa around cause i felt the engine would go pop.

The VTS i would rag it round for an hour or so non stop at u know where and it would just take it, i never had a single problem in a year with that car.
