That was quick
2002 Astra with AC, do they have a warning light telling you when it needs re-gassing?
Going to look at a car tomorrow & he's rang me today to say theres an orange light on the dash. He took it to a local place & they've said the air con needs re doing, they quoted £50
Wasn't aware of such a warning light?

no mate not to my knolage, prob a fault with the cooling module tho, they leak and it shorts the sensor out, blows a fuse and puts the light on, well thats all iv ever come across mate, would def have it fixed before buying tho as i think the cooling modules are around 100 quid

Mine was completely empty after Vauxhall disconnected the pipes to fit my new engine and didn't bother to re-gas it.
Local place said there was no coolant in whatsoever which is bad as the system is then not lubricated. Charged it up and it is sound now though.
No lights however.

Which symbol would I see if it's goosed then?
And is that £100 just for the part? Or £100 all in & fitted?

They'd have cleared the faults though after fitting the engine maybe?

Not sure if there's a low fluid light. As Ad says, a leak and a fault sounds more likely.

hmm go have a look
ask about any previous faults,
the aircon does not have a warning light, however it could be low on coolant (as easy as that)
if unsure walk away though,
im not a current vaux techie, but was previously

itll be the light 5 down in the left hand column if its the fualt iv had, if you want to check the fuse think its 2nd row up out of 4 rows about 4 or 5 from left and its a 5amp 1 iirc

just thought i'd ask
as the 2.2's have a bad habit of snapping aircon pipes at the back of the rocker cover, (easy to spot)
but still no warning light, think you can rule out a problem with the aircon bringing the light on,
check if the aircon works,
if it doesnt thats another seprate problem

He told me it's working, (he used it today) but they can run out & need regassing to bring them back up to scratch don't they?
Wish I knew which symbol/light it is

So if the fuse is gone, it's likely to be more like £100
If it's OK, then either a re-gas or fluid top up might fix it?

It's at a place called Biggleswade, which is in Bedfordshire
If you're online at about 12 tomorrow & I'll upload a pic of this warning light. I'll just take my laptop to get on the net whilst Im there
