I have a question...
Can a car fail an MOT on these things?
Nearside front seatbelt missing
Nearside front seat missing
Exhaust emissions Carbon Monoxide content excessive
The car was made in 1982 and has an engine from 1999 car.
I know it can fail on the seatbelt not being there if the seat is, but I don't see how having no passenger seat is a fail?
Anyone?

if there isnt a seat there then you dont need a seat belt so it shouldnt fail on that 99% sure but i will check at work today.

yeh if the seat isnt there it cant fail on the seat belt
if the engine is from a 1999 car then the emissions test will be carried out for the age of the engine not the age of the car

should do the emissions on an 82 not a 99 .. only time you test the emissons on the year of the engine is if the engine is older than the car
and no they shouldnt fail the seat/seatbelt if they are both removed

I think you can fail for not having side lights but not 100% on that

You can fail for no sidelights Chris, yeah.
I thought the same as you Myles, as far as I know, if the car is that old, it doesn't matter about the engine, but I'm no MOT tester, so I'm not sure

I thought that if you had non it can't fail but if you do have them and they must be working to pass.

It's not mine, I'm asking for someone who's car failed on this already, even though it shouldn't have.

MOT is not tested backwards.
Reverse lights don't matter and neither does rear wiper

reverse lights aren't checked
sidelights : yes can fail for not having these
seat and seatbelt: if no part of the seat is there and there is no part of the seatbelt then this item cannot be tested so it cannot fail.
co content: if this is too high then yes they can fail the mot for this
