When Im at my apartment my ISP is UKOnline and I have my Mac set up to get my mail to my UKONline email addy, all works perfectly fine.

Now when Im at my parents I have it set up to collect my mail, and that works. But because they have AOL and their ISP sending mail doesnt work. UKOnline have said to use AOL as my smtp, but its a real pain in the ass setting that up as AOL dont really want you doing that.

So any other way round this? Or has anyone setup using AOL and an external mail programme that can suggest any tips on setting it up easily?

Can you not just set it to use your username/password for the UKOnline SMTP?

Try smtp.aol.com on port 587.

You need to set up authentication with it though which is just the aol screename and password.

Richie got it, unfortunatly its a bit of a pain having to setup/unsetup this every time. Use a 3rd party SMTP server to send mail from both places?

UKOnline might just simply not allow people from other providers to use their SMTP. I'm sure BT is the same.

The offer expired when you ignored me, mate

Firewall on my Mac is allowing those ports.
Router is allowing those ports.
The setup in Mial on my Mac seems perfectly fine, correct smtp name, correct ports as suggested, correct usernames and passwords if needed.

Am I missing something here?

I know, but I have a few other domains that I want to have emails from too, but they are all fucking up here as cant use an AOL SMTP, and cant be arsed using a load of different webmail apps for all of them.

Webmail will still work on the AOL connection and serve you until you change to another provider.

Could allways try using mail2web.com and login with all the different accounts.

Ive a feeling its something on my Mac though, as my other domains have their own SMTP and those arent working either. Surely they would even on an AOL connection?

hmmm, possibly, the only way to prove that is setup the accounts on a 2nd machine and see what happens.

Most providers will not allow you to send mail through them if you are not connected through them, a Spam prevention is authenticated SMTP with an IP from the provider.

Give it a whirl on another machine, if it works then its your MAC settings, but i know for a deffinate that you wont be able to send from UK Online without using webamil.
