Right, my new Dell Inspiron 1720 just turned up ( ) but the mousepad doesnt work, any ideas?? Plugged a mouse in and that was fine :S

Is it set-up correctly? There are usually settings to turn that thing on and off I think.

Had to go into Hardware update sor summat, ti then realise dit was a touchpad, restarted and now it works

OK fucking thing is being stupid now
I go into Device Manager and it thinks the mouse[pad is a HID-compliant mouse
Earlier it thought it was a touchpad and nopw its fucked again, any ideas???
