Well I finally saved enough to buy myself a digital slr that i have wanted for quite some time on sunday. I went out tonight to take some shots. Some are a little noisy as im still getting used to all the setting etc, All of these photos I have tweaked through photoshop to adjust the colour levels.
I would love some feedback of some of you more advanced photographers too about how to improve etc Enjoy...
Started off on the seafront in Llandudno...
Then met a friend to take some photos of his new car, these were the best ones i thought...

Why nit use auto-focus? Will lead to much sharper shots.
Good work though Rob

For night shots keep the ISO at 100 and the aperture around F16 for depth of field. Use the self timer or remote to trip the shutter to ensure no camera shake.
The last shot is nice although it could do with a tweek in photoshop.

What's the reasoning behind using a telephoto for the Clio shots?

True, but can you buy the 400D withouth the kit 18-55?
unless of course he has sold it or bought body only.

Not sure mate have to see what Rob says, maybe did buy it body only.
Still nothing wrong with using a telephoto, i did for my lambo shots because i had about five minutes before they put the cars away and had to make do with what was attached at the time

Most of the time the Teles will be better glass than the kit lens anyway.
My 70-300VR is certainly sharper than my 18-70 kit.

I used to have to 70-300VR, infact that what i did the lambo pics with the only reason i changed was because i needed 2.8 through the whole range, good lens but ive got some crazy sharp shots with the 18-70, its great using when used in the right light.

I agree that the 18-70 is very sharp, I used that lens for my Glasgow night work to great effect.

I bought the kit so have the 12-55mm lense too, I didnt bring it out with me though but may go and try tonight it it. I used iso of 100 for all the shots and then took about 80 pics with the camera adujsting all the other settings to see what the outcome was of each. Im still an ametur when it comes to SLRs, till have a lot to learn
