I breifly bought this up last year, about giving awards to the best cars at PVS. Daimo was very helpful with this matter, but it was quite late to do anything really. So thought i'd bring it up now so preperation can be made.

Basically, im sure there's enough money in the pot for a few trophies to give out at pvs.

how about selecting a few people to judge (mods/organisers) to pick out the cars of the bunch and give the owener a nice momento.

i was thinking like:

- Best performance car - judged by the organisers
- Best styled car - judged by organisers
- Best "new" car (1st time at pvs, not seen before) - judged by organisers
- Members car of the year - having a vote from all members on the stand.

would be another good insentive to come, and put the effort in before PVS, and there could be "award winning cars" section on the site (like featured cars). good opportunity to get a mag involved too, sure total vauxhall will take and publish a few snaps?

thoughts?

I like the sounds of that, but would you get like a replica trophy to keep but get presented with like an offical one that ian or whoever keeps hold of??

sounds a pretty good idea!
but instead of trophies.. a one of badge to be stuck on would be pretty cool

obviously trophies are easier though

Idea has aways been awesome.

Just people pulling their finger out and putting it in practice.

Judges have to be independent, but in the know about vauxhalls. Not a "trend" follower (i.e only look at Euro as thats whats in and ignore the showcars).

Mind you, im old, not a member, i'll sit back

we have been doing this for years on astra owners club and its a well liked part of PVS (we do it for billing and trax as well).

We have found the best way to do it is to send a voting form with each ticket sold, that way people are aware of the comp and take the time to vote. Voting finishes at 1pm and we call the results at about 2pm.

Worth doing and trophies cost about £15-£20 each or there abouts

Good idea, but I see one flaw with it (given the average age of users).

People voting for their mates cars opposed to what is the actual best cars. And getting the votes back in. Takes work from everyone, but given enough promotion, a time set to hand the forms back in, time set for competition results etc (as you say), its a good idea.

Used to have it on VXLSCC and it can make peoples day much better.

This idea is very good I think.

How about a 'Best Visitors car' which can be voted for by members of the public at PVS?

Club Irmscher who i show with at Billing always have a prize for best car on the stand, everyone who shows is handed a form (usually just placed on the cars windscreen) and you write down your top 3 cars (Make, model, colour, reg) Hand them back to the organisers, count up the votes, then the winners are announced near the end of the show.

Its a good idea as it means more people stay until the end, obviously it needs a few kind members to volunteer to count the votes

i was thinking, thats a bit too much work isnt it. at the end of the day, PVS is a show to enjoy, not a having to hassle public visitors to vote for a corsa.
