Signs

£18.6m is the fee being reported, although it would appear this includes his wages and is payable over the length of his contract.

Then you dont watch a lot of Liverpool.
Its not that he is a brilliant player or supremely gifted on the ball, but he breaks up play really well and most importantly ALLOWS Gerrard to play a more advanced and threatening role.
When Alonso or Lucas play through the middle or Momo (phew) gerrard is expected to do too much donkey work.
I would guess that a lot of Gerrards 15 goals this season would be whilst Masher was in the team.
I am still not convinced the deal is done, but 17m (reported) for a player who is only 23 and a fixture in the Argentine national team and already one of the better destroyers in european football.
Its great business if true especially when you think how much Carrick and Hargreaves cost and neither of those can even get into a poor england team.

Regards.

Well no. They are both very VERY good footballers, certainly Hargreaves (Carrick has a tendancy to go missing in big games) is a brilliant player. I would say the likenesses between the two are very similar, although Hargreaves is certainly more creative, i think Mascherano is better sheilding.
Manchester united dont need sheilding, cos their defence is so fucking good.

Not a chance he's the most intelligent midfielder in the Premiership imo, i wouldn't expect you to understand tbh Rusk.

Im a realist.
They make me feel physically ill, but they ARE the team to beat.

When Fergie first came to Old Shitfest, in a very early interview he said his modus operandi was to "Knock Liverpool off that fucking perch of theirs".............. feelings mutual ya dour faced, rudolph-a-like, rednosed, bitter old twat.

Played in the Carling Cup and made the rest of the team look like the reserve players they were and then making a few first team appearances and showing that he can hack it with the big boys?

One thing with mascherano is, he is a very good player, but to say he has been brilliant in a team that has played poor all season is a bit far

He is an instrumental player in making sure you go 6 games without a win

He (anderson) looks like he will be some player to be fair. (Nani i am not so sure about 30 yard screamers aside) but i wouldnt trade Mascherano for any player in the world.
He is going to be the hub of our team for many years to come. Hopefully with Gerrard as his partner. We already have a solid defence and IMHOO the best goalkeeper in the premiership.
Where we lack are in the wide areas. Babel has bags of potential but needs to be allowed to develop.

We also need a partner for torres and not the glue factory trio we have now.

If nothing else what this signing does is signal our intention to stop signing 'pothibilities' and buy world class. And given that we have sown this up now, the potential to go out and spunk our whole summer transfer kitty on TWO players a forward and a winger is far greater than when we needed a holding midfielder too.
Reina
-------
Carragher
Agger
Arbeloa
--------/Babel
Mascherano
Gerrard
----------
---------
Torres

We are getting there.
Not so sure about the man at the helm, but the pieces of the puzzle are in place for sure.

'Played poor all season' is a massive leap to be fair.
We were top in November and unbeaten. Yes the wheels have come off 'all season' Behave.

10 draws, 3 losses, is not good form, and that is all season, i mean come on, liverpool have only won as many games as they have drew

Well its subjective isnt it? So its a fucking daft argument.

BUT Reina got to 50 clean sheets in less than any other keeper in Premier league history.
We also have the highest number of clean sheets in two of the last three season and have been the team with the tightest defence on average over the time Reina has been in the premiership.
Coupled with the fact that Cech has a defence in front of him assembled for about 70m, and ours has cost about 9m, i would say Reina is doing a bang up job.

Not to say Cech isnt a fantastic keeper, and not to rely overly on stats, but figures generally dont lie.

(Although statistically Brad Friedal is the keeper who makes most saves a season)
