Do we think this will ever come down, and if so how?

Its not really bothered me at the min, was used to paying 105 for super unleaded when i had the impreza on the road, now in the nova its kinda the same but im not looking forward to getting the impreza back out!

one guy over on scoobynet just spent £60 quid filling up and that doesnt sound like my favorite!

Whats everyones thoughts?

If it dropped below a quid I'd be happy. Over £1/litre is a bit much!

I normally fill up at somewhere that is 105.9p/litre.

I filled up near my girlfriends (which I've used before) and it was 108.9p/litre.

I didn't notice till I was half way done, and thought to myself at the time "I would have waited if I knew it was that much".

Looked at my receipt, got home, and notice the difference in price would have been 90p.

This made me realise that as long as it's below 110p/litre for standard petrol, it really doesn't make much difference. I need petrol at the end of the day and will continue to buy it no matter what.

BP

You're lucky diesel is that cheap around your way. Any petrol station around here and diesel is normally over 110p/litre.

I remember when it used to be 92p a litre a few months back. Compare that to £1.05 that I pay now, and for a 44 litre fill up I pay an extra... £5.72.

Fucking hell that's alot

Refining costs are increasing, price of a barrel of crude is increasing, tax & fuel duty is increasing. Its not going to come down.....ever well it will drift a couple pence 105-110p/l but it will continue upwards.

Not much can be done about it sadly we all need to use our cars.

Nit the nail on the head! Most of it is tax.
Its gone crazy, its the same as diesel here @ £1.05 per litre.
I seriously think that if it raises by too much more then there will be some serious protesting going off, everything will go up as a result for transport costs etc & I'm sure the government wont want people out of work as they can no longer afford to travel

Thats not STRICKTLY true. The rise we are seeing at the moment is the government adding tax to fuel to stop us driving.

Back when...1990? I could also get a can of coke & a mars bar & have change from 50p

Its just one of those things eh, & if you cant afford it look at either earning more money or downgrading to a smaller engined car I suppose

I work in the oil industry im constantly reminded how we are having to spend more money to extract oil from smaller less productive wells. The word as a whole is feeling this strain, yes were plagued with rip off UK tax but always have. Much of the recent increase have been due to US barrel exceeding $100. The 12 forcast by the company that was laughed at in 2006 when they suggested $100 a barrel last year are saying £110 & proportional increase every year!
