Drove 140 miles from medway to wiltshire this weekend to detail my mates civic. Not your run of the mill CTR, running a true 200bhp....at the wheels! Gives my phase 2 astra a bloody good run for it's money...in fact it's axle for axle!
Here are a few pics of how the car started off
Nice and clean as you can see :dong:
Car was rinsed and then covered in suds
While the suds were dwelling i set about doing the wheels
Then it was time to rinse the suds off and wash
This is what the water from the rinse bucket looked like - sure it weren't dirty!

After washing and drying i clayed the car
Car had never been clayed since he had owned it, and this is the result after doing the 4 front panels, not too bad really
Got well bonded on at one point, might of been a tad contaminated there!
After that the car was rinsed and dried again and then the UDM came out to play.
This is what i had to contend with
Halogens set up so I could see what areas he had to work and to try and get a bit heat behind the polish to help it break down
Midway through the front wing
50/50 showing corrected side and knackered side

Didn't have time to fully wax the car so slapped on a quick layer of sealent to protect the old girl over night
Was dark by the time I finished buffing the sealent off, one quick night time snap
Plans for tomorrow are to finish getting the caked on break dust off my wheels, polish healights, tidy up the exhaust and get a decent layer of wax on there
And yes it has allready rained, lovely beading though, nice and tight, how the lads like it, so stay tuned!
*UPDATE*
Early start again today, was out there at 9 to finish it off. Had rained in the night but took 2 seconds to dry off.
I then cracked on the with the waxing
Whole car was waxed and left to cure. While the magic was happening i set about giving the windows a quick going over
Then it was on to the black trim. Was a bit faded and as per usual i had something in my box of tricks to bring some life back in to it
Then polished the exhaust
Wheels were then given some loving with some wheel sealent and the tryes were dressed
It was then time for the buff off! Machine first...
then by hand to get in all the nooks and crannys...
And then done! These are the after pictures
Overall....bloody happy with the outcome. Biggest arse was the wheels, heavily soiled with shite and pitted to high buggery, couldn't of got them any cleaner

look very good indead mate, how much do the machine buffers tend to start from, i really want to get hold of one, once iv bought my dodo juice and a few other bits
Ps on the correction stage, whats on the pad on the buffer?

Can buy Meguiars G220 orbitals for about £140 i believe? Can get kits with 2 or 3 types of pads and 2 or 3 types of polish for about £180.

where is the best place to get them from? i have only ever used a buffer with speed settings once before and tbh it scared me  how do you know what setting to have it on so it doesnt burn thro the laquar

Doesnt look any better after 2 days of fannying than it does after the initial wash & clay bar imo.

it had swirl marks everywhere after wash and clay? the only way you're going to see how it really looked is by seeing it in person.

you dont do a full on detail like that every week. every year at the most depending on how well you look after it... and it'll be loads easier to wash with the sealant and wax on it

think people are missing the point here
theres a massive diffrence between a clean car, and one that has loads of paintwork correction, and in flawless in person
the difference once finished is never going to show up in pictures

Looks really tidy now. Good work
I think what people are missing is that this isn't the kind of thing you do every week to your car. Maybe once a year to stop it looking tired, then keep it topped up with carful cleaning and use of the right products in between
