Hi everybody. I have been encouraged by several kind members to create a project post for my car.
I purchased the car during September 2006 as a first car and low cost daily driver.
I still own and maintain the car today, as i am using it to build up my insurance no-claims bonus.
The car is a 1997 C12NZ premier special edition model- and is now approaching 95 thousand miles.
Here is the latest photograph of the engine bay (full size photograph here)
I have very recently performed a cambelt change with new waterpump and thermostat.
I sourced a genuine sport rear spoiler in matching colour at a salvage yard.
The original screenwash bottle, simply washed in very hot water and bleach (same method for coolant expansion tank):
I don't tend to post photographs of the car interior, but here it is regardless:
I have kept the interior layout comfortable for what I need and to suit me.
I previously had a relatively new car stereo, but I fitted this one because i believe it looks more original.
I neatly fitted some 6 x 9" rear speakers into a spare parcel shelf.
I tried to make them look as factory as possible- and the speakers actually sound surprisingly good.
I fitted a pattern BOSAL rear silencer, it is lasting very well and i am happy with it.
The aftermarket air filter is very loud, but only during full throttle which is a nice touch whilst driving.
I fitted some DEPO smoked headlamps during 2006 prior to them becoming extremely popular-
I think they are the best thing i have done to the car personally:
BEFORE DEPO
AFTER DEPO
I had the common rust problem area located at the drain hole base at each front wing.
I chemically treated and painted the rust and lower sills myself- the finish has lasted very well over the years and simply wipes clean now.
MOT testing during 2007 informed me of another common rust problem area under the chassis.
I inspected it and realised that it was getting serious, so cleaned it up as best as i could and undersealed it heavily.
I have also recently discovered the seam weld located under the offside rear suspension turret is slowly deteriorating.
I did the same and chemically treated it before repairing the layer of existing underseal.
I clean the exterior of my cylinder head using wire wool soaked in WD40 to remove stubborn dirt over prolonged periods,
before using metal polish every week to treat and protect the surface- the same can be done for the spark plug barrels.
I have drilled the standard airbox for use during summer and when I want a change.
I connect the aftermarket air filter when the weather is too hot, because inevitably it does reduce engine performance significantly.
That is the record of my photographic project diary from September 2006- present day.
Thanks for looking- your comments are always welcome and remembered.

retro fun. the amount of people who still work the system is surprising.
it has proved to be very useful during motorway convoys and general communication.
it is a nice compact setup and looks like new. the solar activity sunspots were very high last year,
i managed to perform a clear transmission to western germany and serbia from inside the car.
thanks for all the comments

thanks. i don;t have any more plans for modification as of yet.
i would like some TD pro race 1.2 wheels in black but i would waste my brand new tyres.
i would really like to get a set of original corsa 'pepperpot' wheeltrims in good condition.
the car never came with them and i am getting tired of my wilkinson wheeltrims now.

my current tyres are merely 165/70 R13
i have always wanted those wheels but i doubt i will ever buy them.
i would need to lower the car for it to look good-
but with my driveway and rural driving habbits it wouldn't work

Can you find a pic of those wheeltrims? I have some in the shed, not sure on condition but could always spray them?

i polish the car twice a year, but wax it maybe once every two weeks.
i spend more time on the engine, it is much easier to keep clean and dry
i am thinking about buying a clay bar.

Try looking for a place called green vauxhall parts. If they're still going they'll probs hav a set brand new!!
