I spent a bit of time scanning this in for someone earlier this evening, so thought I would post it up on here as it is a pretty useful reference for general X14XE, X16XE and C16XE tuning. The X14XE is an over square lump whilst the C16XE and X16XE are under square.

I wasn't sure if it was best in here or in the technical section, but the latter seemed more orientated to problems? Feel free to move it somewhere more appropriate if needs be?

Thing is if you add up how much it would take to see 200bhp + out of the 1.6, may as well drop a LET in there. Turbo fun and much much cheaper.

I thought the 1.4 and 1.6 heads were the same.

Is there much point in putting the 1.6 head on a 1.4?

As said in the guide, there different.
The XEL also shared the 1.4 head on some engines. But others were different.

some people just dont get it its not all about cheap power, its about drivability and the way the power is delivered.

yeah you have a point there, why did i spend so much of a steel crank..... could have had a c20let fitted for the cost of that one part

tbh most corsas with a c20let fitted have the handling ability and drivability of a buttered rollerskate.

Especially when fighting the car to keep it driving straight due to torque steer.

I'm just a horsepower whore

Loved the straight line speed of my 290bhp MR2 Turbo

Don't get me wrong my 1.6 sport is fun on the twisties but I'd love the straight line power of the LET over the better handling characteristics of a tuned 1.6

You get that issue with a 1600 when you have a proper diff.

Not like you do with a 280 lb/ft ph2 let
