Be easier to wire up a socket & just buy a normal one. Ive got a navman one, its good for all the times I use it. Never needed to look at a map or plan a trip since I got it.

tomtom one or garmin 200, much of a likeness tbh, i have a garmin and cant fault it, but have used a tomtom and again no problems with it, id say the garmin has a slightly better layout and screen, but the tomtom is easier to change route settings

There all pretty easy & similar functions.
This is the one ive got, tbh its more basic than most but does all I need it to when I venture onto a strange road - http://www.mynewcheap.co.uk/products/details/navman-f20-gb-sat-nav/10310/

they fall off the window, the mounts are poop, i had a few returns in work due to this, and they wont get replaced under warranty either

only tomtom have thought about the "simple" mount, had no complaints with others, seriously, garmin nuvi 200, coming from experience in work.cheaper than tomtom, do your homewrok on it, garmin invented sat nav, do most plane and boat satnav also

No chance my navman will fall off the windscreen, its well suctioned on
Seriously that lil navman F20 is fine for simple occasional use if like me you hardly going to use it. If your going to be using it all the time maybe worth looking at a more expensive one!

agreed, the f20s are pretty good, but are now obsolete, its now the s series from navman, but if you can find a 2nd hand one, like colin said, are pretty good

i have one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Navman-iCN720-Navigation-System-Mapping/dp/B000FBDJAW
its spot on imo. cheap and really easy to use. it has shortcut buttons down the side so you dont have to go through the touch screen to access key features. if you lose signal by going through tunnels etc. it quickly re-finds a signal once the obstruction is clear. it comes with a mains adapter for home charging aswell as the in car charger. as colin said, the cradle is very strong when stuck to your window.
the only draw backs i can see are the battery doesn't last as long as you want. its more like 2-3 hours. and the cradle can be a little fiddly until you get used to it.

Navmans are shit.
Get a garmin nuvi 200. Its what I have. they tend to hold about 3/4 hours battery too.

I have the Tomtom One XL...cant fault it other than every know and again when im driving through London in a heavily built up area with lots of small roads and flyovers it sometimes gets itself lost and throws a wobbler...
Everywhere else though it is fine....
