Basic jyst...
Wants full control as being in a 50/50 he cant make the decisions he wants. If he gets full control he intends to remove the debt from the club, and intends to secure the funding for the stadium. Will also offer Rafa a new contract.
Gillett initiated the meeting with Kilnsmann (as they were friends) and Hicks and Parry also attended. Hicks told the truth when asked by a reporter as knew it would come out anyway.
Parry has been shite at his job (something 99% of Liverpool fans agree on) and we should of had a new stadium years ago, and our commercial activities should of been sorted years ago.
Some snippets...
Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has slammed chief executive Rick Parry's tenure at Anfield, labelling it a 'disaster'.
Last week, Hicks issued a letter to Parry calling for him to step down as the boardroom wrangling went public.
And in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News, Hicks has blasted Liverpool's failure to compete commercially with their Premier League rivals.
"If you look at what has happened under Rick's leadership, it has been a disaster," he exclusively told Sky Sports News.
Time for a change
"We have fallen so far behind the other top clubs. The new stadium should have been built three or four years ago.
"We have two sponsors, maybe three. We should have 12 or 15. We are not doing anything in Asia the way Manchester United and Barcelona are.
"We have a tremendous number of fans in Asia. So we have got the top brand in the world of football, but we just don't know how to commercialise and get the money for it to use to buy great players.
"Rick needs to resign from Liverpool football club. He's put his heart into it, but it is time for a change.
"You have to be able to work with the manager and Rick has proved he can't do that."
Gillett relationship
Hicks and co-owner George Gillett Gillett took over the club in February 2007, but Hicks has admitted that their relationship has now completely broken down.
"At this point it is unworkable," he continued. "We started this as friends but 50-50 is a difficult business proposition because you cannot do anything without your partner's approval.
"We had a good honeymoon but, over a period of time, there have been issues, the stadium being the main one.
"If George doesn't sell - because I am not going to sell - I guess we stay in this position that we are in.
"It's complicated but it's going to happen (Hicks buying Gillett out) although I can't force George to accept.
"I am planning to make him a very attractive offer. If I had a majority on it (ownership of Liverpool) I could put more capital in.
"My goal is take all the debt off the club except the working capital needed and get the permanent financing totally in place for the stadium.
"I want the finances of the club to be secure. I want to be the majority owner of a group that buys the club and I have got a 25-year track record of being a very successful investor around the world.
"The fans don't like the fact that we borrowed a lot of money to buy the club but I will fix that."
Vision
Hicks went on to discuss the talks held with Dubai International Capital (DIC), who failed with a possible purchase of a minority stake in the club in March.
"DIC has no seat at the table. They are masters of the British tabloid spin. They want to stir the pot of Liverpool to create dissension," he added.
"I did talk to Dubai about being a 49 per cent partner but it just didn't work out. They didn't share the same vision I have and I didn't think they could become minority partners. I am not going to have any more 50-50 partners."

Don't know what to think, the media spin everything so no-one knows the truth.
It's a clever strategy by hicks but the way he has gone about his business still leaves alot to be desired which is what most fans are upset about. I would never feel comfortable with someone like that having full control at liverpool tbh.

Yeah, its certainly making things confusing. And the interview was a Grade A PR stunt. He is in his cinema with his kids/grandkids watching the Blackburn match all dressed in the replica top and Hicks with a Liverpool mug. They are all cheering when we score. Hicks walks past the camera at the end and says 'Everton wont like that' as he laughs. He shows the guy round his sports room where he has shirts from all the best players of his teams past and present and then shows off Gerrards in pride of place.
A lot of what he says though I do agree with. Parry does need to go as he has held the club back for years now - its just Hicks shitty timing that has caused such a big stink about it as 90% of fans agree anyway that he shouldnt be there.
IF we have to go forward then we need ONE owner imo. Be it Gillett, DIC or Hicks. Now if what Hicks has come out and said is true then he wouldnt be the worst option - but then again its not like he hasnt gone back on what he has said in the past. He'd offer Rafa the best support and he'd certainly pull the way we are run into the 21st century.
DIC have the money however that would mean we wouldnt be under pressure to pay off any loans - but we have no idea as to how they'd run us and who they'd back as manager.

Sons of shankly 'stance'
Yet again as Liverpool fans we have to listen to Tom Hicks’ spin, lies and deceit. We have to listen to him drag this club through the mud.
Hicks says Rick Parry is incompetent. Yes he is. But Tom Hicks knew this last year. Why wait until now to do this? Is it because he has now learnt that he has no way to win over fans other than agreeing with them? Well it is too late. He is doing the very thing that he accuses DIC of doing, playing up to the media. Typical hypocrisy of a man who is so out of touch with what being involved in Liverpool Football Club is all about, and typical of him ignoring what fans want.
Lets look at the facts:
Hicks says we should have had a new stadium, and Parry hasn’t delivered one – Well Tom, you promised a spade in the ground inside 60 days. One year later, we are still waiting. Never mind the spade being in the ground, we don’t even have the money to buy the spade.
Hicks says he won’t have the debt on the club, yet last year he said:
“When I was in the leverage buy-out business we bought Weetabix and we leveraged it up to make our return. You could say that anyone who was eating Weetabix was paying for our purchase of Weetabix. It was just business. It is the same for Liverpool.”
Has he changed his entire business strategy? Hicks told us he wasn’t negotiating with DIC. He was. He told us no other managers had been approached, Klinsmann had. He has led us up the garden path again and again and it’s time he shuts his mouth, takes the handsome profit he has been offered and gets out of LFC.
Any financier who wants to give Hicks the money needs to be aware that Liverpool supporters will disrupt their business, will boycott their business. RBS who funded this last refinance need to be very aware that should they fund this charlatan any further they’ll find themselves inundated with phonecalls, letters, faxes and emails on a daily basis.
No money, no credibility, no honesty, no integrity, no dignity, no custodian. HICKS OUT NOW!
Spirit Of Shankly.

Is what i posted completely untrue? Or are liverpool fans influenced massively by what comes out in the papers?

Nath picture summed up the whole merry-go-round that this situation is, it has nothing to do with who the fans are behind.
And as to your actual point...Liverpool fans would rather both Hicks and Gillet were gone, aswell as Parry, and DIC came in.

You would know this how sorry? The only reason you think you know that, is because of the massive amount of press coverage over this whole situation and you are probably more swayed by it than an actual liverpool fan. (you don't care, yeah I know but your still commenting).
There's alot of mixed feeling as far as i'm aware and many people including myself said along time ago that they would reserve any real judgement until some kind of decision is made.
The only thing I know for sure is I don't like the way any of it has been handled.

Im awaiting the fun to begin with you guys when the 3 or 4 groups who have large stakes in you begin to get nasty
I wouldnt say we'd be fucked, as at the end of the day if it is purely an investment for him then the best way for him to do well is to increase the revenues into the club. And the two ways to do this are through building a new - much larger) stadium, and through increasing our commercial activity. And to do both of those (fill a stadium and make us attractive to sponsors) he will need a stable club that is performing well on the pitch.
Thats how he'd maximise the sale value - which must be his aim considering DIC have already offered him over £40m profit in 12 months.

Actually what he was saying today has made the most sence out of anything that has come out the mouths of Gillet/Hicks/Parry for about 6 months
- He wants to back Rafa
- He wants to expand commercially
- He wants the new stadium asap
And I think if he had sole control then he wouldnt be in the media like he has been lately, as he wouldnt have so much to moan about. And if he stuck to what he said in that interview then I'd back him as would a majority of the fans once he shows he is for real.
The problem being though is if he is for real, or if he is trying to win the fans over to gain control of the club and will then fuck us over royally.

Which is what most fans are thinking at the moment.
Its still up there at the moment, and only time will tell. But I just hope its soon as Rafa will be needing the backing soon for transfers and if this shit is still over us then I cant see much happening.
