Just for a bit of fun really, which player would you prefer, answers on a postcard
Van Der Sar or Pepe Reina
Gary Neville or Finnan
Vidic or Skrtel
Rio Ferdinard or Carragher
Patrice Evra or Aurelio
Christiano Ronaldo or Dirk Kuyt
Paul Scholes or Xabi Alonso
Michael Carrick or Javier Mascherano
Nani or Steven Gerrard
Tevez or Torres
Rooney or Crouch
Tried to match up best I could from memory (Basically using champs league teams) if anyone thinks players need adding / changing let me know.

Obviously a bit of bias in there when it comes to Carra or Rio. I expect United fans would pick Rio, and Liverpool fans would pick Carra simply for the passion he'd bring to a Liverpool side.
Scholes and Alonso was a tricky one for me, as Scholes in the past was better, but I think over the last 2 seasons Alonso has been better. IMO obviously.
Reina is the other tricky one, but I dont think you can argue with the fact he has won two golden gloves in his first two seasons, and I *think* is on course to win his 3rd?
Also...if you were going to line them up properly then you'd have to bring in Babel against Nani (both play LW ish), and then Gerrard would be lined up again Rooney as the second striker type of player.

And WTF is Neville doing in there? Surely Brown is the comparable player, and Arbeloa has played more this season than Finnan (earning a Spain call up for the first time - then got injured!).

My choices
Pepe Reina
Gary Neville
Vidic
Rio Ferdinard
Patrice Evra
Christiano Ronaldo
Xabi Alonso
Michael Carrick or Javier Mascherano
Steven Gerrard
Torres
Rooney
Cant decide between Carrick as Mascherano as im a big fan of both players. But I recon Carrick has better passing but Mascherano better tackling/defensive work.

I think you need your head testing. Carrick vs Masch only has one outcome
And again, whats with Neville being there...has he kicked a ball this season?

------------------------VDS------------------------
Brown----------Rio-----------Vidic----------Evra
Ronaldo-------Scholes-------Carrick-------Nani
----------------Tevez--------Rooney-------------
-----------------------Reina-----------------------
Arbeloa-------Carra--------Skrtel-------Aurelio
Kuyt--------Alonso---------Masch--------Babel
---------------Torres---------Gerrard------------
Thats how they line up against eeach other in each position IMO, given long term injuries (Neville) anyway.
In bold are my choices.
That makes a tough choice between Nani and Babel imo as I think both have settled fairly well. Babel has scored more goals but think Nani has a much better touch - then again one is an out and out winger and the other is really a forward.

IMO better player when playing off a striker. Would rather have gerrard centre midfield.

Oh...and to answer my own question...
Possibly Cech over Reina
Fabregas over Alonso
Trying to think of RB's but dont think any of us have a really decent RB.

From both teams;
--------------------Reina--------------------------
---Neville-----Rio--------Vidic-------Evra-------
C.Ronaldo--Masch----Scholes--------Nani---
-------------Gerrard-------------------------------
------------------------Torres---------------------
Only 2 i'd be swithering over would be Scholes and Nani, possibly Carragher at left back as well!

Suppose you could pick one on form and one on former glories, he's been one of the best full backs in Europe for a decade or so but yeah he might not be the same player anymore!

Yeah dont get me wrong if you are comparing him back to a few years ago then not much of a contest.
You may aswell then compare Giggs from 3yrs ago. And Scholes. And Carra!

Heres a little spin on things tho cosmo.
Do you therefore believe that with 4 changes to your squad (the ones where the united players would fit in) that liverpool would be challenging for the title?

I dont even think it needs 4 changes.
Skrtel/Agger, and Babel are two I didnt pick from our side, but IMO are good enough to be in a title winning side.
We are weak at both fullback positions in an attacking sense, and we are weak on both wings. Babel has shown promise that he could fill one of these once he adapts fully. Where as Kuyt isnt a great option there although he has put in MOTM performances in the CL recently.

Liverpool would only need 1 change to challenge for the title, C.Ronaldo.
