ok iv just done 110 miles with the car and the engine management light came on about 5-6 times each time it stayed on longer, it never stayed on for longer than a minute each time, and when it does this i lose power and revs and speed dos'nt rise, it just sits there, its like a splutter,
what could cause the engine light to do this and come on it only did it on motorway driving

I have similar issues and it was the lamber sensor. MOT picked it up as faulty... replace it for £50-60 IIRC and car drove perfectly... and bye bye to that bloody light!

I've had a similar problem with my astra....only when it starts up though, light comes on, and lose pretty much all power, have to turn ignition off, leave it for a bit, then switch it on again

If you get a reading done by Vauxhall they can read off the fault codes stored in the memory of the ECU, not just the immidiate faults that appear with jamming a paperclip into your fuse box.

Possibly post in Help Zone and wait longer than 15 minutes for a solution.

Paperclip test, you put one into 2 holes somewhere and it flashes a fault code at you.
Just go down to a garage and let them plug a fault code reader in.

eml light means fault. Plug a computer in and find out what the fault is.

cdould still be the AFM the crank sensor is weak on these and the CTS is the coolant temperature sensor, which is also weak
get it to a garage and plugged in
