Bit different to the other projects. I did one on my last bike (Suzuki Bandit 600) last year which ended up like this....
I'd always wanted a Yamaha R6 in the model i have when i first saw it at a bike show in 2005. Then one April morning the missus says "why don't you get a new bike instead of messing about in the garage with the one you have". Before she spat out the final words i was there at the local Yamaha dealer smacking my deposit down on the salesman's desk!
This is what i got back home with
First thing i did was dump that horrid numberplate bracket and fit a much neater one. (Will take pics soon)
Plans are:
Integrated indicator unit
Renthal medium grips
Have the wheels powdercoated white and have the fairing wind deflectors painted white too so it looks something like this...
Plans also include a different exhaust end can, ditch the mirrors, a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket and 1 tooth larger rear sprocket, braided brake lines, Bemdix brake pads or maybe some PFM 6 pot billet callipers if i can afford them.
Will update this as and when

WoW That looks fantastic already.
I've seen them without the end can on. It really does look a lot better.

I love these, my only downside was how 'bent' over the front end it felt when riding! It felt like when you looked down at the clocks you were looking at the tarmac and had to shift back a bit to see the clocks. Lovely to ride and obviously pretty nippy!
I like your plans

Gorgeous bikes! Love the rear lights!
I think micron do a race can for these now. They look great and sound amazing! The design is shorter than the standard one, so there is less exhaust on the side of the bike!
A great project!

Nice bikes...
My best mate has an 06 model in black.
He kindly let me wheelie his £7k bike when it was a day old, and not even run in!

I'd be tempted to take the exhaust off completely. The silencer box means having the exhaust off makes no difference to sound whatsoever. However on my VFR......

Most new bikes only have one headlight on (which you can't turn off).

Update: 25/2/09
Well i it never really kicked off did this project. Spent more time working on the van, going to shows, and riding the bike when the weather was good. But all thats set to change now during this winter.
I did a couple of mods last year which included making a much neater number plate and indicator bracket..
While i was at it, i was never too keen on the standard end can as it was too long. But didn't want to have a Lazer Xtreme can that everyone with an R6 has, so went for the OEM+ look ( ) and chopped it in half. Looks much better and sounds better, while keeping with the standard looks.
So to kick the project back into life, i've decided to strip the bike down and give it a really good clean as i had to use it during this winter due to having no car. the salt has had a good go at it so i've got my work cut out for the next few weeks. So taking this oppertunity, i'm going to get the bits i want powdercoated/painted while i'm at it.
First job was to stick the bike on some paddock stands
And then get the front and back wheels out
Then i made a matt out of 5 layers of bubble wrap....
....so that i could strip down the front and rear wheels. Stripping them down consisted of taking the discs off, taking out the oil seals, spacers, bearings, circlips, bushes, sprocket and the cush drive.
I then set about taking the side panels off and lifting the tank so i can get to the airbox as i'll be doing a service on it while i've got it in bits.
And thats it for now.
Tomorrow i'll be off to get the tyres taken off and take the rearsets off and take them to the powdercoaters to get them done in white

I've had to ride it through winter. Didn't get my golf till 3 weeks ago so hence why its being done now.
Plus theres still too much salt down on the roads to be out enjoying it

I just re- read what i'd put. I mean tthe wheels are off to be done white and i'm taking off the rearsets.
Did think about them being done white, but think they'd be best done satin black like the frame

Update: 4/3/09
Yesterday i took the rearsets off and stripped them down ready to be powder coated
And today i picked up the rearsets and the wheels from the powder coaters. I built the rearsets back up and put them back on
And now on to the build of the wheels.
Started on the front wheel by putting in the new bearings, the centre tube, oil seals and brake disks like so...
And then i set about building the rear wheel up. First job was the bearing
And then the retaining circlip went in
Followed by the oil seal
Then on the other side of the wheel the centre tube, needle bearing and cush drive were fit
And the wheels were trial fitted
Tomorrow i'll be getting tyres fitted back on to the wheels
