I've been looking at cars I can get over the summer and I've found this which is only 2 miles from my home address and is pretty damn cheap for what you get....

TRADER LINK

What's the general view of these? They seem pretty well kitted out and the insurance is cheaper than i thought...

Cheers!

I'd imagine it would be slightly quick, but I'm not keen on Rovers.

well i need a car that will last 5 months with as little extra expense as possible. I haven't really got the time at the min to go searching far and wide what with exams and dissertation, so i thought this seemed quite a promising prospect.... Budget will prob be around 1700ish....

i have a Rover in drag!!!

had my ZR two weeks now am love it. cant really comment on the Rover as i have the MG handling and engine etc but i like mine, that one does seem reasonably priced. i will say avoid the 1.4 engine, i did alot of reading up on the ZR and no one recommended it. diesel much better or go for the 1.8 engines!

yeh wel now on the second tank i have clamed down a bit and realised my first fears of a leaking fuel line/tank was just my heavy right foot and 160 stampeeding horses racing me forward!

to be honest its brilliant! after lowering my Corsa (AVO full kit 35mm) i knew how a car should handle all of a sudden and really did give me confidence in the car

the ZR is a step or two above. holds on when the Corsa would start to complain, feels like unlimited power to 100 (or so i've been told ) and although better handling than the Corsa (speeds able to carry through corners, PAS with direct tight rather than heavy steering) the ride is not as hard by any means and really is a joy to drive either on a cruise knowing the power is there or when emptying the tank!!

Don't these like gaskets of the head variety?!

So in terms of trouble/cost free driving for 5 months, I'd say no.

What's wrong with the Corsa? Just keep that for 5 more months. . .

1.4 k series engines go through head gaskets like no mans buisness.although the 1.8 and 2.0/turbo egines are ment to have something go wrong with the crank .ive had 2 rovers both 1.4's and they had head gaskets go but my dad used to work for rover so all good

The thing with overs is you have to look after them, and watch the head gasket as Deano said.

The thing I don't like about the 25 over the 200 is the front bumper. Just looks too much like an old man's car imo.

If the 25 is the same as the 200, it might have a cable clutch which is quite heavy.

I sold that last october, i've just never bothered changing the picture! They do like head gaskets yes, but it comes with full history, so i'll check that first to make sure everythings in order...

If it drives anything like a 200 BRM it will be a little cracker.

Seems cheap too.
