was thinking about this the other day and thought i would ask the cs faithfull for there opinion. If you understand me then please answer...

When you where growing up, if say man city where the bigger team and where in man united's positions now and as successful as man u, would you support them instead of man u, same goes for liverpool and everton, arsenal and the spurs.

Hope you realise what i mean, just realised last week that all the scousers that i work with all support liverpool and not everton.

A lot of fans would just support the best team at the time, ie Chelsea, Arsenal etc etc, regardless of the sity they're from.

Probably not...I support Arsenal because they were the first team I heard of, mainly due to my Grandad being a huge fan. Luckily they were pretty local to where I was born. Otherwise I would have supported Wycombe Wanderers as I was born in Wycombe.

I was born in the late 80's, when liverpool were dominating, my brother's also a big liverpool fan, so i've stuck by them since I could walk really.

I used to support Man United when I was younger but got called a glory supporter

Started supporting Chelsea because they are near-ish to me and my best mate at the time was a season ticket holder.

Now I still get called a glory supporter

I started supporting Arsenal when Bergkamp joined as I just loved his madskillz yo

At the time Arsenal were pretty shit tbh... goign througha rough patch after GG left and Bruce Rioch not doing the business

Soon afterwards their style of play became immense with Bergkamp & Wrighty

I supported Rangers because my whole family do and tbh, i don't think i would have been allowed to support anyone else

I like Queen of the South because they are my local team and i played with them when i was younger.

And i like Liverpool because all my mates hated them so I decided to support them.

United were shite when I went to my first game, very early in Fergies era, 88-89 season. Everybody else at that time followed Liverpool or Everton and Arsenal were pretty good then aswell. However, ever since we won the Cup Winners Cup I've been called a glory supporter!!

Love threads like this!!!!!

I'll play along, in 1990 Liverpool won the league. United didn't win the league until the formation of the Premier League.

As Strick, United could be in LEague 2 for all I care. You support your team through good and bad. Only the worst its been in my lifetime hasn't been that bad!!!

If your from the area or something like that I can appreciate why you might support the team. IE - Live in Liverpool, support Liverpool. Thats fine.

Its all the supporters that have no connection with a club that live 200 miles away that sit at home watching the games on TV, or in the Pub that I cant stand.

No way could I support a team I never got to see, wouldn't be right, wouldn't feel like I was connected in anyway, and dont think it would mean as much to me when we did well, or effect me as much when we were shite

I support Sheff Utd because I was born and raised in the red half of the city, and all my family are Blades....

I hate it when I go out somewhere, like shopping etc and I see some idiot strolling around in a Chelsea shirt. Most of them will never have even been to bloody London never mind going to a game.

I don't think anyone can call themselves a supporter if they don't go to any games!

Only 2 this season. Due to finances. 13 the previous season.

Applied for about 4 and didn't get the tickets too.
