if it's the 2.5, they only have 10 or so, bhp more, and are heavier, that;ll be why..
the 3.0 will be quicker as they are near enough 200bhp or so

These folk who are saying they are apparently not much quicker than an XE corsa....have u ever been in 1 or seen the 2 race??
From past experience of both XE and V6 engines in a heavier MK3 Astra,i could probably take a wild but accurate guess that the V6 would be a good bit quicker.
They have more torque for a start. The 2.5 can be tuned to circa 200bhp for £150 tops.Decent filter,De-cat,3.8bar FPR and a set of 3.0 inlet cams will see u knocking on the door of 200 ponies.
When i had my old V6 GSI it had the above mods and it left XE corsas and would stick with my mates XE Nova. There was nothing in it.He even tried to use his nitrous to shake me off but the bottle was empty lol.
Even when the astra was XE,and i changed it too C25XE.i noticed a BIG difference. My mate who done the conversion was actually surprised at how quick it was compared to an XE.

I raced a standard one when I had my XE corsa, i dont know if it was running shite or well or how he drove.
BUT he was only pulling away about 1-2metres in every ten.

C25XE 170 BHP / 170 LB FT
C20XE 156 BHP / 144 LB FT
What gains do 3ltr cams make?

3.0 cams will see a proven 15-20bhp easy.
C20XE is actually 147bhp and 144 lb/ft
C25XE is 167bhp and 167lb/ft

Probably an engine out job for major things.Servicing can be done with the engine in the car.Not sure how easy it is to access the rear plugs when its in a corsa tho.
Just make sure u do the obvious b4 it goes in the car.

cam belt's easier to change on the v6 than a c20, in the corsa's bay - thats one good point

will the X25XE from a Vectra Gsi go in a corsa then as that has near 192bhp as standard according to T.V V-Files? Or is it just the C25XE out of the Calibra / Cav that will fit?
Also that pic of beardys is one of my favourite ever of a modded car and if beardy ever sold and i had the cash in would love it!

NO
Not without changing the inlet system anyway.
But if ur going to that hassle for the extra power, just get a C25XE and change the cams to 3.0 inlets.Or if u can source 2 sets, change the exhaust cams to 3.0 items aswell. Both cams are the same anyway.
Or even better change the bottome end to a 3.0 along with the cams and use the 2.5 inlet and injection systm and u will have 1 quick corsa.

I have a V6 engine with 3ltr cams & 4 bar FPR for sale £500, had it dynoed recently at 198.3hp with printout, still in the car (Astra GSI)
I have owned C20XE, V6 and C20LET corsas, I would rate them
1st : C20LET
2nd : V6
3rd : C20XE

Yeah, I love the sound of a V6, espc. the 3.2L that comes in an R32 Golf, I soooooo want one of them just for the noise it makes!
