Been pushing my car very hard recently and kind of decided that these springs just aren't doing the car justice. I've been told they're 40mm Apex springs and shocks but I really don't know. I'm not too hot on car suspension as this is my first car and I've only had it for 2 weeks.

Is anyone local that has a Corsa on coilovers that is setup properly so I can see how much difference it makes? Everyone says how wonderful their Corsa handles, but to be honest, it's absolutely awful... My mate's standard Focus handles so much better than my Corsa, and he's on standard suspension.

Anyone else find that it just understeers if you take a corner with any speed?

I've heard a few people say that a small engine doesn't help with handling issues. Is this the case? It's only a 1.2. Will it be better when I put an XE in it? I absolutely loved Corsa's and had so much planned but I had no idea it'd be like this.

Also, will 16" wheels (Speedlines) rub with 60mm coilovers?

Go easy on me guys -- not trying to open a can of worms. Just read so many comments of people claiming their Corsa handles like it's on rails, even with a setup very close to mine.

Oh and will fitting strut braces help? Surely that'd make it understeer more, wouldn't it?

Corsa's just have a bad chassis to start with, you can make them handle but it will never be a good base car. Just ask Adam_B

It's your first car and you've only had it for 2 weeks, is there a possibility you just can't drive it to it's full potential?

Any advice? I'd like to get it as best as I realistically can. I'd sooner it handle than just slam it and claim it does.

Dave A sells a fixed height Bilstein kit which seems to be recommended. Oh and seeing as your only a new driver, you should maybe take it a bit easy.

I've been driving for 3 years and driven over 10 cars in that period, and the Corsa is the worst handling car I've driven. I've been a biker my whole life so I've kind of got a sense for speed and taking corners quickly. Not trying to big myself up but I imagine you get a lot of new drivers on here who have just passed, etc.

maybe its not the springs and shocks that are causing the problem?

tyre quality, bushes, geometry, tracking, bent chassis? even knackered engine mounts can cause problems.

The previous owner spent £300 on a set of tyres just before I bought it. I know price doesn't mean a lot but I Google'd the tyre make and they got good reviews but I'll go and check what they are and let you know. I'm really hoping it's not a bent chassis.

The tracking does need doing, as it pulls slightly to the left. Could it really effect handling that much?

I've had access to other cars. Been driving an 04 and 07 Skoda Octavia mainly for the 3 years and even that handled better! An old Audi A3 surprised me the most. That loved corners!

I've had an TZR125RR, 2x VFR400R NC30's and 2x R6's (and a ped, but we won't mention that).

I'd recommend getting the tracking and camber done mate. It makes the world of difference.

Nope, no PAS!

I'll get some strut braces anyway.

Where should I order from? Anyone know of any in black?

what engine have you got 16v or 8v both are hard to find strut braces for, and the only one that fits the 16v is a sparco i think but you have to modify the inlet cover

I never noticed a difference when my tracking was out and after it was sorted.
