well on one of my journeys home (Didcot, Oxon) for the weekend from Cambridge, on Friday i got to MK, just before J13 on M1 (around here) and as the map shows at a traffic lighted junction. As the traffic slowed to a stop for the red light ahead i followed suit, and looking in my mirror could see a Fiesta coming towards me, i could see he wasnt going to stop......i hear tyre squeal and now know there is going to be impact......i brace and BUMP!!! quickly stamping on the foot and pulling up the handbrake to avoid hitting the car infront.

seeing the parking layby just a few metres up the road i pull in and get out the car seeing his car pull in behind me
his damage:

my damage:

the car was left undriveable as the rear bumper is fouling the nearside rear wheel.
After exchanging details i rang my insurance to pick me up and get me sorted. they got the car to their overnight compound before being transported to a repair bodyshop.
upon emptying the boot i am left with this

not good at all
Saturday i had a call from the 3rd party insurance who will pay for everything thus no claim against my policy. at 1230 my courtesy car arrived in the shape of this

(a very awkward looking mother in the back!!)
Vauxhall Astra Twin Top 1.8 Design
looks like my ZR is a right off
i've had it for 2months! 20th April i signed the V5, 20th June i receive a knock.
on the plus side the Twin Top is a nice car, the sport button is a must for spirited driving. The mechanism is a spectical to watch i hope to get chance to video it at some point!!
Edit: anyone wanting to enjoy the summer sun (in the Cambridge area) with the roof down u2u me, i am free Tuesday and Wednesday this week - first come first serve!!

Yeah, wouldn't say no to that car
But to the ZR, unfortunatly due to boo floor, that looks like a write off.

unlucky. the difference in damage betwen the 2 is quite surprising. you'd have probably been better off to let it roll to reduce the damge, but well done for not involving a 3rd vehicle in the accident.
was this just after the HG was repaired, or was it still iffy?
Astra looks nice.

the bumpers on the fiestas/new ford's are designed to ''bounce back'' which usually means parts behind the bumper gets bent whilst the cosmetic damage looks like nothing.
so don't be suprised if they have a bent slam panel/broken radiator etc
unlucky about your car mate, but a convert astra as a courtesy car
edit: as you can see in the first pic, the grille is on the piss, so something will definitely have broken behind it.

There could be damage to the Fiesta that's hidden.
Plus, I'd rather that crash structure on the car absorb the impat than say, my spine

unlucky,
I was talking about a similar thing earlier, if you hadn't hit the brakes and the force of the impact shoved you into the car infront, who would be to blaim, you or the car that hit you?
