Just had a kitchen designed and planned......basically quite a big room (4.5m x 2.6m), and we are having approximately 14 units/cupboards.

Got prices on a few things and wondered if they seamt good or bad

- They have quoted £3k for all cupboards, worktops, plinths etc. Kitchen is a 22ml thick high gloss finish

- Appliances - we want an integrated fridge and dishwasher. Also a double oven, 5 ring gas hob, and extractor. All appliances are Baumatic. Quoted £1142 for all the above

- Finally, got a quote of £800 for fitting, inc worktops. All gas electrics etc aren't included as I will do those.

Gonna cost approx £4900 in total.

I thought I'd get one a lot cheaper than this but it doesn't seem to be the case. I went in MFI yesterday, the guy in there said to do the kitchen as the other guy designed it, in the cheapest kitchen they do will be just over £5.5k with appliances (excl fitting).

design your own with ikea tools. then you just pick it up!! simple and cheap. then pay a joiner to fit. £100/day max!

that kitchen planner tool aint that easy, I had a crack the other day - couldnt even find any 1000ml base units on it!

Also, not being funny but my house is done to a really high standard and the kitchen is going to be my masterpiece so want something a bit better than an Ikea kitchen.....I'm sure they are good quality etc but they are nowhere near the quality of this one I'm looking at

If you want a top-notch really high standard kitchen then surely you wouldn't mind paying whatever for it then?

So £4900 is too cheap for a "masterpiece" kitchen

I should have said 'masterpiece with limits' then as I don't have an endless pot of money.

Fuck it, £4900 ain't too bad...gonna book it tomorrow morning.....pics to follow I guess!

At that price I'd say you are just as well going to Ikea, I can't see the finish being any better.

We paid about £5k all in for our kitchen (4mx4m)
My sister on the other hand paid about £14k for hers.

Just a smallish local kitchen place....been in business years and the in-laws have had one from him before so didn't mind going to him.

Usually I stick to big company's for stuff but places like MFI and B&Q are vastly expensive

Ikea kitchens are very good quality, lmao at 5k fitted for a 'masterpiece' kitchen and appliances fitted, the quality will be no better than ikea.

100% will be better than bloody ikea....it is all 22ml thick for a start rather than the 15ml or 18ml that ikea use.

Pics will follow on completion

If you want the same stuff b&q and mfi have, go to howdens joinery, there a trade only place, but sometimes they do sell to the public. All you need to do then if find someone to fit it.

just ordered it....went for the solid oak instead of the high gloss. Looks really nice.
Got some good quality appliances in with it as well like a double oven, five ring hob, Belfast sink and a few other nice bits.

Paid 4272 in the end plus another 800 for fitting in a couple of months when it's all been wired, plumbed, plastered, coved and painted.

Proper excited about it. my kitchen at the minute is awful and lived with it for 3 years now!

Pics to follow when completed!
