Gordon brown doesnt half talk some shit.
Taxing people off the road is a good thing?
all its doing is taxing the poorer people of the roads.
and i really dont understand how he can say he wants all petrol cars off the road by 2020,to be replaced by electric? so instead of cars burning fuel, the power plants will have to work double time to keep up with the demand..so moving the problem from one to the other
wish theyd just hurry up and bring hydrogen cars out, even clarkson is backing hydrogen cars now.

That brown does talk some shit I have to be fair, is he going to find ways to fund renewable electricity to run these cars? no! Also how are people supposed to be able to afford a new, modern, economical car when they can barely afford to run the ones they have with the fuel and tax the way they are. Also how is scrapping millions of cars going to affect the environment?

they seem to just brush aside all the real problems as they are to difficult to solve tho. then they slap more tax on something stupid like this as its easier.

thank you
and the only byproduct of hydrogen is water.
but making it would require electric, but a lot less than running every car in the country on it.

You do realise the guy that 'talks shit' is the longest serving Chancellor in modern history and was responsible of overseeing the longest ever period of growth for a government, let's keep thing relative the man is not an idiot and especially on financial matters.

Hes not an idiot?, so forcing poorer people off the roads is a good idea?
Making more people unemployed is a good idea?
One example my dad works early mornings, he leaves for work at 6 every morning, theres no buses trains or aeroplanes at that time in the morning,so he depends on his car to get him to and from work,if he couldnt afford said car,car would have to go then so would his job.
If gordon brown had any sense hed sort out the transport issues in this country first.

While I agree with this, surely he could have saved 'some' money instead of spending all of it?

IMO this has all been brought on by Global Warming - in the long run they want to cut down on all of the emissions (fair enough)...
So in the long run they expect 99% of us to be driving slow "economically friendly" cars which will most likely be limited to a slow speed and do 100mpg! (for example)
And obviously they have put the prices right down on taxes for low emission cars because they know that people want to save money and a lot of people won't care if their car isn't that fast just as long as they only pay £35 a year on tax instead of £200+ a year...
As said though there are plenty of other major issues with this country he needs to focus his efforts more on them and less on ripping us the fuck off!

I never said a word about his ideology which is subjective. I'm purely stating that he is a clever man. Severely lacking in charisma but clever nonetheless.

Brown is essentially correct - the roads will be clearer for rich people. I suspect that makes him happy.

Rich people in the cars. Poor people on the bus. Don't see any problem with that to be honest.
