Guess it depends on the engine for reliability. Mine's been ok

also depends what 8v enginer your looking at, if u go the 8v route then the 130 lump is best option imo.

Common misconception.
It does not have more torque.

Can someone explain to me why an 8v engine has more torque than a 16v'er?

No, just delivers power different making it feel like it has 'more' torque.
I wouldnt even bother with the 115bhp lump, just bang a x16xe in instead.

They generally dont, its just the tend to deliver more of its power lower down the rev range comperd to the 16v

But at no point through the rev range is it making more power than a C20XE.
So the more torque argument is invalid.

2,000rpm.... How much does the C20SEH make and how much does the C20XE make

Went in my mates 8v, wasn't impressed tbh, felt no quicker than a 1600 16v..
iirc torque curve on the 8v and 16v is the same upto about 3.5k when the XE gains more.
IMO a 16v is no less reliable than a 8v

Well depends which 8v lump you get. The 115 or 130, obv for the sake of 2 bhp dont bother with the 115 bhp one. And tbh if you already havea 1.6 i wouldnt bother with the 130 bhp lump. Just change inlet on yours and call it at that!

Dont know what the difference is in corsas but i don know that when i had my old mk3 gsi with a standard redtop,my bros seh mk3 with a straight thro exhaust,4branch and a few other bits cudnt touch it from either the off or on the move.
Every1 seems to think the seh has more torque but why when a 16v has 144 and an 8v has 132 lb/ft.

The torque curve on my old ibiza 2.0 8v was pretty much a straight line with 133lb/ft as opposed to the 16v that goes up with the rev up to about 145lb/ft
Obviously these are AGG / ABF engine and not C20SEH / C20XE

torquce is the pulling power and bhp is acceleration of the engine. so if u had a car with 1000bhp and 1 ft of torquce it wouldnt realy go any were because yea it might rev up fast but with no actual pulling power it wont.
