....a standard headunit (single DIN to fit in MK4 Astra) that has USBMP3 connectivity? If so could someone get the model number. I want a USB player job without sacrificing standard look

EDIT - or even better, does anyone know of a tool you can plug into the back that allows one to read a USB stick with MP3's?

Just get a black/grey headunit and not silver. I was concerned with the exact reason and think mine looks spot on.

Possibly, I'll have a scout around. Can take one when I go shopping.

It's a Kenwood headunit, pretty basic, cost me £80 back in 2006. You can get them the same price as that now, but with MP3 connectivity etc.

MFD will never work, but you don't need it to because the stereo will have a screen. iirc, if you cut the brown cable for the loom of the stereo, it will show the date continuously on the MFD. Not worth the hassle though

EDIT: The cage is shit that I got with that, and it needs pushing/pulling forwards again it does normally sit flusher.

ta deano, thats what i hate about aftermarket stereos, the stupid cages you have to use with them, and fascias and all that other bollocks. I think im going to 'invest' in a Vaux cassette thing and use Kurt's idea instead, will be cheaper too and if i really need to ive then still got my CD player kicking round in the boot

Probably what you got in a late Corsa B.

Try finding a Vaux stereo which was compatible with CD changer. Then get an MP3/WMA CD changer.

With no fascia plate, I haven't had 1 bit of trouble. If you get a cheapish one i.e. mine, I don't see why it'd be targeted.

EDIT: If you're going to have the car some time, get a good alarm

Blaupunkt do very subtle looking head units. Have you looked at them?

Get a Vauxhall headunit with a tape deck that supports a changer, and get the changer to go with it. CDs, tapes, and (with a tape adapter) MP3 on standard stuff.
